Master of Kung-Fu and Blue Beetle

We should start seeing some promotion for Shang-Chi and the legend of the Ten Rings soon, and I am looking forward to getting a better feel for the characters and plot of the upcoming film.  I know the movie will be straying from Shang-Chi's comic book origin, so I don't really know what to expect from the movie version.  Other than the plot revolving somewhat around a martial arts tournament, very little has been revealed about the story that will be told.  I can't wait to see what surprises may be in store. UPDATE:  Perfect timing, the first trailer has just been released!  It doesn't reveal too much plot wise, but it looks to have some awesome action and combat scenes. Awkwafina is doing her sassy best friend thing, which should be fun to watch.

I am glad to use the artwork of Bronze Age comics legend Rich Buckler here.  I was lucky enough to pick up an original piece of his a while back (the strip is illustrated and signed on the back by Buckler and inker Joe Sinnott, (despite the Larry Lieber credit on the front):

Ted responds with a super intense flare light that blinds one of the guys.(Even someone untouchable needs to see.)

@Det. Tobor: not in the Vision's case. Even intangible, his solar cell would simply absorb the flashlight's brilliance and convert it into a counter-offensive laser beam!

@Ross: I've heard see-sawing rumors that Shang-Chi's father will either be ret-conned as the Mandarin or the Yellow Claw. Personally, I'm hoping for the latter. The way that YC was drawn during his Capt. America appearance, in the late 1970's, was absolutely perfect re: exuded menace! Similar to whoever drew Fu Manchu, on Shang-Chi's own mag, at that same time.

The main difference between the two super-villains being that YC was drawn less stereotypically. At least, with regard to how he dressed!
No out-of-date mandarin robes with matching hat (shaped like a giant cupcake).

Actually, Ross, a two-minute trailer for the movie dropped yesterday.

@Cary: Good analysis of Yellow Claw, but the "retcon" of Shang-Chi's father is pretty much confirmed as the Mandarin. (I'm kind of hoping for a Ben Kingsley cameo.)

Which is why I included the update, Bob

Hrm. Somehow I didn't see the "update" part. My brain must still be frazzled from last weekend's show (I was in "Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon!" from Umpqua Community College) coming on the heels of my second Pfizer shot.

Sudden inspiration: Larfleeze vs. Gollum.

For film I hope it does not go to modern and having Awkwafina (c)rapping.

@Bob & Glenn: so, there's no chance Aqua Velva will be playing Fah Lo Suee?

:-(

@Glenn: She'll probably have a track in the closing credits.

How akward for her. ;-)

I mean, Seal only got ten measly seconds of air time, with "Kiss From A Rose," at the tail end of BATMAN FOREVER's closing credits! I mean, I had seen the movie twice, while it was still in theaters, without hearing the song anywhere during it. Yet, the music video was filled with spliced-in excerpts from it!

I discovered the truth a year later, while watching the movie during its debut telecast.

Know what I mean? :-)
