Well, it looks like Mysterio had one last trick to play on us all - leaving audiences on a giant cliffhanger just before Spider-Man is removed from the MCU! Sadly, monetary disputes between Sony and Disney have resulted in an end to their cooperation with the character. I'm hoping this was just a leaked press release in a high stakes negotiation, and that a deal will be realized in the end.
Thank you to Martin Maenza for suggesting this match up!

Can I get a side of potato salad with all that ham? Two special effects actors are going to make for some great gag scenes.
Has Captain Marvel met Captain Carrot?
Forget Captain Marvel. Captain Carrot meets Hoppy the Marvel Bunny in " Strange Lunch Date" brought to you by Mysterio Inc. The ONLY ink that keeps changing colors as you write with it. Remember to ask for it by name, Mysterio Ink.
Ross, thank you for taking my suggestion. That is exactly how I thought this confrontation might go down.
This is really clever!! I'm a huge Blue Devil fan, so I'm always thrilled to see him on this page. It's got me thinking... maybe there is an idea in a jam piece of various actors/stuntmen. Blue Devil, Trickster, Animal Man, Wonder Man, Mysterio, Mary Jane, and I'm sure there are others.
Thanks for making my morning better with this cover!!
Hey, speaking of movies and the like, I just watched Batman Vs the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I was good, by the way, but I wanted to mention that when they ran the credits, it also showed a couple dozen crossover covers between Batman & the Teenage Mutant Turtles similar to what you have here on this site. I really recommend checking it out if you haven't already. I wouldn't be surprised if they got the idea from you.

Yea Ross. These two could create a real Crises of their own on set They could go thru the whole multiverse as the backgrounds keeps changing with or without fight scenes.
Speaking of Spidy, can he still be referenced in new Marvel movies?
I'm surprised Mysterio and Master Pandemonimum were never teamed up in mainstream Marvel mags, given the latter's similar cinematic background.
@Anon: Actually, there have been 3 DC/IDW cross-over mini-series of comics featuring Bats and the Turtles. The collected TPBs are available on Amazon.
There is hope, actually, for Spider-Man staying in the MCU. The news I have is that Disney was seeking a 30% stake in Marvel-related films, to reflect Kevin Feige's work on them; and one party (I forget which) wanted to bring Venom formally into the MCU, which would be a problem because Sony wants to go for an R rating with that character, especially with Carnage set to be the villain in the second film. The negotiations did quickly break down, but there's still a possibility of the two studios returning and sorting things out.
Martin, this is a great cover idea! I enjoy team-ups and match-ups where the two characters are linked by a common profession. That's why I've periodically mentioned wanting to see Dr. Strange and Dr. Mid-Nite having a medical consultation. (I've also enjoyed the rivalry we've seen once or twice between Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark.)
@Anon & Proud: No, Spidey could not be referenced in any way in any Marvel movie, nor could any Marvel character or institution (such as Tony Stark, Happy Hogan, or Nick Fury) be referenced in any Spider-Man movie, if no deal is reached.
Breaking news: A new anti-hero, anti-villain team is on the loose. Beware the deadly combination of.....The Director & The Producer!
In these days of millions of internet followers, no one is safe from these two who want all their attention.
I'd rather see Hunter "Grendel" Rose take on Marc "Moon Knight" Spector. ;-)
Or Hunter Rose versus Beowulf (DC version)
Moon Knight? I think a Moon Knight vs. Eclipso cover would be interesting on several levels. There's the "moon" connection, the potential for a really wild story, and of course the continuing rumors of a possible MK movie in development (which we may or may not hear a bit about at this weekend's D23).
@Bigby: only if Beowulf was brought forward in time by someone like Degaton or Tomorrow Man.
