The Thing and The Thing

OK, I have to confess that I have never seen either the classic our updated version of the movie, The Thing - but this was one of my most often requested covers so I thought I would try and put something together. Admittedly, this is probably not exactly what was expected by the requests, but what can I say, I was in a goofy mood when I made this one! So, which Thing movie should I see? the Kurt Russel version or the original?

This is the funniest one yet.

I have seen both and you can't go wrong with either. I would suggest that you start with the original then compare it to the newer one. You probably already heard this but in the first one James Arness (Marshall Dillon of Gunsmoke) plays the Thing.

Dave sez,

I've never seen the original.

The Kurt Russel version is pretty good if you're a fan of the X-Files.

You can't go wrong with Jurt Russel or Wilford Brimley...

My daughter just finished a Dr. Seuss-themed week at day camp. Had to show her this as soon as I saw it. I love it!

I love the original. I usually don't care for remakes, but this one was closer to John W. Campbell's original story, "Who Goes There?", as the first version scrapped the whole shape-changing idea in favor of a simpler (and less expensive) alien. I can recommend both.

Yay!

Definitely the Carpenter / Russell version... though the original's pretty good too.

Throw in Swamp Thing and the Macabre Man-Thing and you could call the sequel...

"A Few of My Favorite Things."

Sorry, Ross; just couldn't resist! ;-)

Maybe Thing from Addams Family could join in.
