7 Soldiers of Victory and The Defenders

Uh oh! Mr. Universe is back for his 4th appearance and he looks more powerful than ever!  Let's hope the combined might of these two super-teams is enough to put him down for good!

Unless Green Arrow has a special arrow for the need, Dr Strange and Silver Surfer are gonna be very busy!

And the say three's a crowd. I think even Mr Universe might find a Hulk punch a bit daunting.
BTW, who is the figure tucked away in the bottom right hand corner?

I can just hear Stripesy, now: "We're gonna need a bigger Nebula Rod!"

Seriousl, though; JLA v. 1/#100-102 was the first crossover with the JSA I ever read in its entirety. And this was way back when comic books were still only 25 cents plus sales tax! That's why I became a sort of armchair historian for all things Golden Age of Comics. That, in turn, is why I was so disappointed in how the original Crisis On Infinite Earths was resolved. It ended (way too prematurely, in my permanent opinion) sixteen years of reading pleasure. In their haste to "streamline" DC, the latter never took advantage of obvious potential story ideas. For instance, William Hand--alias Black Hand--could've been ret-conned as the grandson of Iron Hand! The former, being a GL Hal Jordan foe, could've explained how the latter created that giant green clawed hand that menaced Silver Age Earth 2 all through the summer of 1972.

Anyway, thanks for the nostalgic enjoyment.

Has MR. UNIVERSE ever fought CAPTAIN UNIVERSE?

Since the Seven Soldiers are mainly non-powered heroes, I think the Defenders are better suited for this fight -- though the Soldiers probably have the ingenuity to do just what's needed to turn the tables in the Defenders' favor.

The most epic battle, of course, would pit Mr. Universe against the LSH and Shi'ar Imperial Guard!

I wonder who'd have a bigger appetite for that battle: Glom or Matter-Eater Lad?
