Darkwolf joins The Lord of the Rings

I remember seeing the animated Lord of the Rings in the theater as a kid and being blown away by the scenes utilizing rotoscoping.  Later on in life I saw Fire and Ice and the technique was used even more impressively there.  I hoped that superhero animation could be done in the same way.  Though Batman the Animated Series would later usher in a new age of comic book cartoons, I never quite got my wish there.

If you want rotoscoped superheroes, see if you can find Youtube postings of the Golden Age Superman cartoons that were done by the Fleischer Brothers (of Popeye the Sailor fame) for Paramount during the 1940's. The one with the giant flying robots is my favorite!

The only Blackwolf I ever heard of, where Ralph Bakshi is concerned, was the evil twin brother of Avatar in the 1977 fantasy film WIZARDS.* And the only film I ever heard of, entitled FIRE AND ICE, was the 2004 TV-movie, that Syfy Channel did, featuring Amy Acker (from ANGEL) and John Rhys-Davies (from SLIDERS). But, having just finished the synopsis on Wikipedia, I can truthfully say that I would've liked it. Although, probably not as much as WIZARDS!

*Btw; did you know that Mark Hamill had a voice-over credit in that movie as "Fairy Prince Sean" ?

For the follow-up issue, they meet Blackstar! (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackstar_(TV_series) I mean, hobbits, trobbits, whazzadifference? (Of course, I remember the Saturday Morning Cartoon I never watched, just saw some comic book ads for, but do I remember to renew my prescriptions? Noooo....)

^ Yes Blackstar, Clone & co. need to appear on this blog at some point. The Hobbits would make it interesting.
