The Spot Vs. The Shadow Thief

I was glad to see The Spot get the, well, spotlight in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.  He had an interesting look and power set in the comics, and the movie presented both well. The Shadow Thief is one of my all time favorite villains for his unique appearance and abilities.  I'd love to see a story where these two mix it up.

This is a real blast from the past for me! I have no idea who The Spot is - but the Shadow Thief took me straight to a Hawkman cover from the 1960s. (Which is where I think you got this from Ross?)
Simply amazing Joe Kubert artwork. So distinctive - and so evocative!
And it works brilliantly with The Spot here...

@Ross: are you sure you wouldn't rather see the Scarlet Witch and the Crimson Avenger "mix it up" with the Red Skull in a rose garden at sunset?

Every time I see the Spot's spacescape of holes, I think of the Sea of Holes from Yellow Submarine.

Anon@8:22's (repeated) suggestion reminds me of the April Fool's cover from a few years back, when the Invisible Woman and Invisible Kid teamed up, with a backup feature with Cloak and the Shroud.

Davejonz is spot on! Joe's art is so distinctive that it can be recognized even in the shadows! What gives me a great laff is the untouchable Shadow Thief up against someone who gives him the same kind of problem. Beautiful. Well conceived cover Ross.

Great concept and poster type cover. How would they do against Unus the Untouchable ?what would be the upper hand?

IIRC he was a villain whom Spiderman fought at some point in the 1980s.

I believe that he was also--quite briefly--part of an anti-Spidey clique called the Legion of Losers.

But was he a damned spot? He's certainly heading "out", after all...
(Shakespeare reference)

:D

@Simreeve: good one! :-)

The Spot should go after DC's female Nightshade who has similar powers or maybe team up with DC's Warp to fight Ambush Bug & Nightcrawler.

@Anon1232: tentatively titled "Spot Removers"?

How about a sequel to this story where The Spot and The Shadow Thief team up against Negative Man and John Migliore‘s The Grad?

How about Spidey and the Savage Dragon vs. Araknis?
