Sub-Mariner and The Doom Patrol

Namor could have some problems working with others, but I think that maybe he would find some common ground with a team of freaks that are shunned by society. There is potential for an interesting tale by mixing him in with Niles Caulder's team.

Brilliant combination of images. I already want to open that book. Subby joining the Doomsters. Tremendous possibilities.

Namor joining forces with the Patrol because of their mutually not fitting in with mainstream American society certainly works for me...
Wouldn't the Hulk be a good candidate, too?

If they died giving up their lives to save a village or a hamlet, Namor might consider a debt of honor to them, that he would seek help for. Possibilities!!

@simreeve

If the Hulk comes next, then we should have a Doom Patrol / Defenders team up!

A more plausible premise than you think, Ross! Wasn't the Silver Age Doom Patrol initially depicted as being blown up on an island?

@JeremyWeissenburger

I would second a meeting between my two favorite teams.

The hard part will be figuring out by the end how the Doom Patrol is only "mostly dead." Or, perhaps that can be a follow-up story later, with someone like Hellboy, Damien Hellstrom, or the Winchester brothers rescuing them from the afterlife.

Better still, give that job to Dr. Strange, in the Defenders/Doom Patrol meet-up (which I support in any event).

for a good number of years they left them dead with only robotman being given a resurrection to join a new Patrol,
now that they are all back it kind of feels like they missed the point of the sacrifice.
before that ,
Namor would feel honour bound to hunt down the Brotherhood and make them all pay for such naughtyness…

What Simon said. ;-)

multi dimensional counterparts or clones. Something Marvel would never think to do. or taking someone from the past right before their death. A good agent could come up with ideas if they know the Powers landscape.

Speaking of which; how about Brother Power the Geek vs. the Condiment King?

I latched on to the Doom Patrol near the end of their original run, so their sacrificial death was a real bummer. My geeky wish is for DC and Marvel to do a retro mid 1960's Fantastic Four/Doom Patrol crossover. I'm pretty sure I would faint if I held a copy in my hand.
