I wonder If Solomon Grundy was affected by the Comics' Code Authority. He was technically a zombie after all, which were against the Code for some time - prompting Marvel to present stories about "zuvembies".

@Ross: how's about teaming up Spider-man with Golden Age GL Alan Scott? Those two haven't worked together since STF #239 (eleven years ago)!
I do recall Grundy being in at least a couple of stories in the 60s, one of them a JLA/JSA team-up.* I don't think his history as Cyrus Gold was ever brought up during this time, so he wasn't any kind of undead thing; he was just a monster who would arise after being apparently killed. I think that's how DC handled it in general back then.
And BTW, I think we need a Grundy/Hulk rematch. Or some mind-controller can take over Grundy, Abomination, the Shaggy Man, and similar nigh-mindless brutes.
*While a Web search didn't bring me anything specific about Grundy and the Comics Code, it did find the specifics for this story: Justice League of America #92, September 1971. I remember it as perhaps the best JLA/JSA story from the Silver Age. Titled "Solomon Grundy -- The One and Only," it featured Superman, the Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, the Atom, and Robin from both teams.
Grundy could not last long if Hulk threw him in different directions.
How the British branch could handle him could be different because they dealt more with different magics. Interesting idea.
That does bring up an interesting thought: What if Wolverine were to slice Grundy up, and spread his body parts into various different locations? A Wolverine vs Solomon Grundy match would be interesting, but has yet to happen here.
I’ve never seen Grundy when he wasn’t a huge behemoth before!
@Bob Greenwade: That could grant both of your requests! Wolverine takes on Solomon Grundy under the manipulative influence of Freddy Krueger. You know; a la his similar influence of Jason Voorhees in the movies!
Grundy was also one of the villains in the Super-Squad stories when All-Star Comics with the JSA was revived in the 70's. I don't remember there ever being a problem with Grundy, he was just something unkillable (or did not stay dead for long). Super-Team Family even had a golden age story reprint with Grundy.
I always loved the horrified "floating heads" on the covers.
