Blue Beetle and Ghost Rider in: "Cousins in the Crosshairs!"

With all of the recent project cancellations from the Warner Bros/Discovery merger, many have been worried about the upcoming Blue Beetle movie.  Fortunately, it seems to be safe so far, which is good news.  The set photos were so impressive that I can only imagine how the finished project will look.

The Reyes Cousins first appeared together back in STF #2826...

Honestly, I'm not sure one of them even has a functioning digestive system.

At least they don't get bothered by heat or heat waves. No innocent third parties are around. How long are these gun users going to last? 40 seconds? 2 minutes? These heroes are going to be a bit bored.

Haha, true... I probably should have put a more formidable opponent in the foreground. Just imagine there's an army behind those first two riflemen.

I don't know who drew the "All New Ghost Rider" in this particular image capture. But, frankly, he looks more like Usagi Yojimbo as the Human Torch of Larval Earth. :-(

@Tobor: they might even be Kraalian Skrulls working for Intergang! In the belief that Jaime's azure exo-skeleton is still extra-terrestrial in origin.

Are these two going to have to be rescued by Ted Kord and Johnny Blaze? Only for ALL of them to have to be rescued by Dan Garrett and Carter Slade (or even Rex Fury)!

Jaime has his own mashup version on the blog in Iron Beetle; it made me wonder who in the DC Universe would make a good Ghost Rider.

After a while, it struck me that there really is only one good candidate: Bruce Wayne.

Hey, Ross, I usually try to avoid making these off-topic team-up requests, but have you ever thought of doing an Enemy Ace/Phantom Eagle cover? The two WWI flyers, one DC, one Marvel, seem like an obvious pairing. I'd imagine the tricky part would be the lack of many Phantom Eagle cover images to work from- a little research indicates that his only cover appearances have been Marvel Super-Heroes #16 (1968), Ghost Rider #12 (1975), All-New Invaders #12 (2015(cd)), and Doctor Strange/Punisher: Magic Bullets #5 (2017).

Not too familiar with Phantom Eagle, but that's an interesting match up.

@Bob Really, Bruce? I've seen him on a motorcycle (Bat-cycle?) a few times, but he doesn't really strike me as the biker type. I'd think Jason Todd comes a bit closer, but still not much...

@Bob & Ben: I'd go with the original Amalgam version of Speed Demon. Johnny Blaze and Barry Allen!

@Ross: The Phantom Eagle was a German national who secretly flew fighter missions for the Allies during World War I. His debut was a retro-flavored one-shot back in some Marvel anthology of the 1960's. But, he gained wider popularity from guest-starring in the original GR series, of the 1970's, as a vengeance-seeking spirit out to get the now-elderly Red Baron wanna-be who cowardly strafed and murdered him and his parents shortly after the signing of the 1918 Armistice!

That led to a cameo appearance in volume one of THE INVADERS, as part of a nostalgic flashback by the original Union Jack (Spitfire's father), re: Freedom's Five.

@Anonymous356: actually, Karl Kaufmann was a naturalized American citizen who'd been born in Germany. But, as his parents went back to Germany, just before the outbreak of WWI, he had to wear that Batmannish disguise to protect them from reprisals resulting from all his missions for the Allies.

@Carycomic: I stand corrected.

Anonymous- The Phantom Eagle also guest-starred in Hulk #135, in 1971, several years before his Ghost Rider appearance. It was a time travel story involving Kang. The Eagle didn't appear on the cover, though. And I suspect that the real reason he kept popping up in odd places during the '70s had nothing to do with the reader response and everything to do with Roy Thomas just liking the character.

Eh! It was probably six of one and half-dozen of the other.

For the next Reyes family reunion, I humbly suggest--as common enemies--the Comedian and Smiley (former sidekick of Evil Ernie).

I gotta be honest. This version of Ghost Rider looks like Usagi Yojimbo after eating the Flaming Carrot!
