Ghost Rider and Blue Beetle

Marvel's Agents of Shield has never really grabbed me, and I continue to watch it out of habit and my like of actress Ming Na Wen (glad to see her show up in The Mandalorian!)  One exception is when the Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider was added to the mix for half a season.  I really enjoyed the story line and the effects were impressive for TV.  It's too bad he didn't stay around, we'll see if he shows up again in the final season.  I heard that he would be getting his own Hulu series, but that deal may have gone away with all of the recent Marvel TV cancellations.

Thanks to Jeremy De Shetler for suggesting this pairing!

Never heard of Robbie Reyes. He must've gotten the role from Danny Ketch after the re-separation of Earth-616 from its Ultimate Marvel counterpart.

Heh! It looks like the Spectre was spying on Zarathos, after all. If so, then today's cover would make a perfect (if highly unofficial) part 2, re: yesterday's cover.

The Ghost Rider Hulu show was indeed cancelled, unfortunately; all of Marvel's TV shows will be Disney+. I'd personally prefer it if they kept at least one show on ABC to tie in with everything else going on, just enough so people who don't get Disney+ can get the broad strokes before seeing the movies (and, not incidentally, potentially become interested enough to get Disney+).

While Cary's connected this cover to yesterday's, I tend to associate that big claw with the ones on #2824 and #2822. (And I still associate that flaming skull with Ghost Rider.) But who knows? Maybe this was a big 5-part story arc in the (hypothetical) interior. And it might even continue!

What next? The Strange Brothers battling the Demons Three? Doctor Fate versus Dormammu? The Tick against Trigon? The Inferior Five versus Knull?

(Only count the first and last of those as actual requests.)

Have you considered Ambush Bug and Inferior Five vs the magicial Marvel universe?

@bob: Zarathos was the original source of GR's fiery noggin.

How about a cover showing Batgirl, Batwoman, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Zatanna, Storm, The Invisible Girl, She-Hulk, Emma Frost, Medusa, Scarlet Witch and Hawkwoman on strike for better working conditions. ( or any combination there of?)

Hmmm. A quick look at the index shows no mention of the Lady Liberators (from Roy Thomas's Avengers run, Big John Buscema drawing Valkyrie) in STF. So Horsefeathers II group has a name...

I LOVE "Agents of SHIELD". That and "The Blacklist" are my two must-see shows of the last half-decade. It was great how they tied into the films in the beginning, and rather disappointing that such ties had to be discontinued.

I second Jay's motion. :-)

@Bob: Who knows? Maybe those latter two claws belong to the now-public domain Golden Age super-villain known as...THE CLAW!*

*Imagine a Skrull the size of Godzilla.

@Anon/10:31: Thanks for the clarification. I'd forgotten that.

General: If only someone could figure out how to fit the Red Tornado/Spider-Man team-up (#2823) into this arc, I could really get excited about it....

How about this? The monster being battled by Los Hermanos Reyes was conjured up by Moondark the Magician! The latter was a two-time foe of Spidey in the original MARVEL TEAM-UP of the early 1970's. First, opposite Jack "WWBN" Russel. Then, later, opposite Johnny Blaze (technically, the 2nd Ghost Rider, but the first one to ride a motorcycle).

For those of you too young to remember Moondark? Imagine Michael Morbius with Baron Mordo's sorcerous powers.

P.S.---Of course, given that the Cyclone was originally depicted as French (imagine Batroc with RT's power), maybe Cy and Moondark could be depicted as pawns of DC's Morgan LeFay.

@Cary: Nah! Sounds too complicated. Why can't Ross have just two Marvel super-villains facing off against one DC superhero and one Marvel superhero. for once? An example of the Bad Guys being willing to break anybody's rules. Even our host's!

Yeah, the Ghost Rider TV show was cancelled in favor of using him in the movies instead. And it seems that Gabriel Luna was informed of the show's cancellation, but not any plans to use him in the films, so as far as he knows he won't be playing GR again. Too bad, I really liked him in AoS, and I'd really like for the now all-under-Feige Marvel productions to acknowledge the show in some (even minor) way. But nothing Feige's said so far indicates that'll happen.

@Green Luthor: Don't give up hope. There have been some pretty compelling rumors about Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal reprising their Netflix roles for upcoming films (the former because Peter Parker's going to need a lawyer). Similar rumors (from the same sources but not as strong) have held the same for Vincent D'Onofrio, Kristin Ritter, and (though he's said he doesn't want to) Mike Colter.

(If two of those -- or maybe even just one -- comes to pass, then I'll still hold on to hope to see Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph on the big screen, or Disney+!)

Linda Turner (Black Cat (Harvey Comics)) and REAL-WORLD actress Lana Turner?

Carycomic said...

Actually, the Harvey Comics character was named after both Lana Turner _and_ Linda Darnell.

How about FemForce vs. the Fantastic Four (FF v. FF)? Or the Lady Liberators vs. Justice Machine?

Is the same monster BB faced @ STF #2360?

They are both purple, could be.
