The Unknown Soldier Vs. The Red Skull

Ross Marquand did such a good job taking over from Hugo Weaving as The Red Skull, that I wouldn't mind seeing the villain return to the MCU.  Who knows how that can happen, but with Kang causing timeline havoc for the next few years, anything is possible.   It might be cool seeing Sam Wilson clash with The Red Skull in the recently announced Captain America: New World Order.

Did you ever read the Garth Ennis Unknown Soldier mini series? It was awesome.

I've heard good things about it.

There any number of dangling plot threads the MCU's writers can exploit. Unforeseen consequence of the restorative Blip from "..Endgame." Or he slipped through, alongside Venom, post-Carnage. Or he had a little help from the Baron Mordo of Earth-833 ("...Multiverse of Madness").

As for this cover-sim? I'd buy this in a New Yawk minute--at twice the cover price--for the artistic combo of Joe and Jack!

I so miss read whose thought bubbles those were at first. Thought what an odd flip of expectations, Skull thinking someone else is a terrorizing monster.

Clearly taking time to actually look at it and it was clear my mistake. Great cover as usual.

Oh, brother! Hey, Bob. Could I _please_ hit him over the head with one of your day-old cookies?

Clearly this is a cover meant to appeal to the faceless masses. #BadPunNoCookie

Ross Marquand has, of course, continued the Red Skull role on What If...?, as well as taking over Ultron both there and in Multiverse of Madness. And given that Red Skull no longer has the duty of guarding the Soul Stone, he may well be coming back -- and that's not even counting multiversal action.

Great one Ross! I'd like to see a follow-up with Grave Digger VS Baron Blood.

@Wolfhammer: maybe with a little help from a time-traveling Blade? Or one of DC's Creature Commandos?

Or Marvel's 2005 rip-off of same (Howling Commandos: TNG)
