The Rocket Pack

It wasn't released publicly, but the descriptions of a teaser trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 that was shown at Comicon have been making the rounds.  It sounds like Rocket Raccoon's origins will be a central focus of the film.  As this will be James Gunn's final outing as director and the last appearance of this team of Guardians, there's no telling where the story will go, or who will still be around once it's done. I do hope that Rocket survives to be featured in future Marvel projects.

Well, I'm hoping that GOTG v.4 will finally feature the Silver Age version of the group. As leaders of the resistance to the Badoon Brotherhood occupying 31st century Earth!

Which of the artists in the search paramters did this version of Rocket Raccoon, though? It's kind of intriguing because, from one angle, I initially thought I was looking at a Star Wars Legends Rybit.* Then, I looked at it, a second time, and thought it might've been someone imitating Bill Watterson as the profile kind of resembled a drawing of Spaceman Spiff!

*The boots especially-yet-temporarily looked more like amphibian webbed feet.

Ross, you've really rocked it with this cover.

The OG Guardians were already introduced in the MCU as the Ravagers, Cary. Including Sylvester Stallone as Stakar, Michelle Yeoh as Aleta, Miley Cyrus as Mainframe, Michael Rosembaun as Martinex and Ving Rhames as Charlie-27 - it would be cool though to have them together again, it's a rather all-star cast. Oh yeah there was also a CGI Krugarr.

@Anon948: Well, the 31st century versions could be backstoried as their descendants (cloned or otherwise).

@Ross: thanks! :-)

Speaking of art work, though, I'm wondering if Mark Bright was being a little mischievous when he drew that particular image of Rocket. Because, intellectually, I know that pink contrail is kinetic eneergy more-or-less solidified by Rocket's inertia-winder belt. But, you gotta admit, the initial source looks to be [snicker!] elsewhere on her person.

@Carycomic: are you kidding? They were the break-out characters of that anime series!

@Anonymous: Fine; fine! I hereby delete the half-serious statement that Team Rocket looked cutest when they were being forgettable.

What, no Buck Rogers...?

He was too busy having a space race with Duck Dodgers (of the 24th-and-a-half century).
