Batman and Quicksilver

I always liked Quicksilver in spite of his often pompous attitude. He couldn't get a break - neither mutants or Inhumans ever really accepted him. Sure he had a short temper, but his father is Magneto, he could be a lot worse. Basically his inclusion in an issue meant there was a level of unpredictability at play, which is always interesting for a reader.

This cover was a pleasant surprise for me. I had wanted to do a lopsided race scene and was amazed when I saw how much the two running poses matched up.

My favorite Quicksilver moment was a Peter David issue of X-Factor where the team saw a shrink (Maybe Doc Sampson) and Quicksilver asked, ‘Have you ever been in a long line at the post office and the person at the front of the line is taking forever and you’re getting irritable and everyone just starts to get on your nerves? That’s how I live every second of my life.” Interesting insight. Realistically, you’d expect more super fast powered people to be irritable pricks at best.

I love what you're doing with your blog. Do you have a Facebook fanpage by any chance?

This is just a quick post to check for notifications ;)

Mike, that's one of my favorite Quicksilver moments too. I also like how this looks like it could be an actual Batman/Quicksilver team-up cover. Where did the Batman and Quicksilver illustrations come from?

I love that Quicksilver scene as well - it explains a lot!

No Facebook fan page - I wouldn't even know how to make one!

The Quicksilver image was from his solo series, Batman was from a B&B issue with Mr. Miracle, and the background is from some Gotham City sketches I found.

BTW I am on vacation with limited computer access so sorry for no Up dates - I will be back on Monday!

If you like, I can help you set up a fanpage at FB. It could help you promote your blog over there.

Love this image. Since Quicksilver's personality is so different from Flash it would be nice to see how Batman adjust to him.
Since R is up next have you considered teaming up with the Marvel WWII hero Red Raven?

Well, I give up. I tried for an hour to get a fan page up and running but every time I tried to link this blog to it, I was told FB could not find any data, even after following step by step instructions.

Don't try to get Facebook to absorb all of your info, it would ruin your blog.
To get a fanpage, just visit one and go to the bottom of the left colum (the small one). There, you will see a button that reads: "Create a Page for My Business" Click on it and just follow the directions. Make sure you create a fanpage and not a group or a cause. This is my fanpage so you can see how it's working for me: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Comics-All-Too-Real/146468293533 (you can also find that link in this page).
And when you do have your fanpage, first invite your contacts and then, start posting links to your blog, but little by little.

OK, I seem to have set it up now, but still having trouble importing posts - it only imports the last month's worth but not the rest.

I don't know what gtalk is. Anyway I manually added the entries, that seemed to work.

Glad that worked! Found you through a friend through FB! Any stories planned to go with a given cover ever, Ross?

Only in my fevered imagination! But that's kind of the point with this project - to bring to mind all the great stories that could have been...

The Flash is a better character but Quicksilver is more fun to read about. Not every superhero can be a nice guy. We need our arrogant snobs if for nothing else than to shake things up.

I wonder who would win a Battle of the Arrogant Snobs. Pietro "Quicksilver" Maximoff or Guy "Worse GL-Than-Even-Gnort-Gneesmacher" Gardner?
