Jean Grey went from an innocent young mutant to arguably the X-Men's most powerful member. She committed some terrible acts while under the influence of the Phoenix Force, however. Would the spirit of vengeance find her responsible for those deeds? Finding out might make for an interesting issue.

You had me going for a second when you said "spirit of vengeance." I thought to myself: "I don't see any of the Ghost Riders on today's cover." But, even if I had, something tells me all their soul flames and penance stares, put together, would've been nothing compared to the Phoenix Force.
That's when I remembered; that's not only the Spectre's nickname. It's also his job title! And, as Cordelia of Sunnydale might put it: "The Spectre's in a whole different league from the Ghost Riders. He's major. They're Little."
Speaking of Sunnydale; aren't the Summers family overdue for another reunion?
The Spectre is so limited but Tom Mandrake's is so different from Jim Aparo's. Tom's generates Mighty Power while Jim's radiates Fear and Terror. Even a non-human may feel a nightmare effect.
As to Marvel Girl, if a girl goes to a party and takes a mild drink, but the drink
is spiked, is she responsible for what she does....or a victim of circumstances?
I could see Hank trying to defend Jean as to being different than the Force that possessed her. Couldn't wait to read it.

@Cary: Quite so (one week from today), and here's hoping he lives long enough to do either a guest appearance on Loki or a cameo in Avengers: Secret Wars.
You're no doubt referring to those mental midgets who were stupid enough to post a faux-obituary of him on Youtube. Heh! If only the management did as much diligence to prevent such chicanery as they demonstrate in removing "violators" of 3rd party copyright!
Given precedent, this may end up with Jean as the new Spectre.
@ShyTenda: That would make an interesting follow-up cover, if Ross doesn't mind re-coloring Phoenix (which I doubt). She could at least take over temporarily while Jim Corrigan take a vacay.

Dear Ross: how about Jean Grey as the Spectre vs. Madeline Pryor as the Goblin Queen? If for no other reason than the latter has yet to even debut here.
