Justice League of America Vs. The Mandarin

Jack Kirby truly revolutionized comic book art. In addition to his amazing creativity in designing characters, monsters and machinery, he added many new visual tricks to the genre.  His use of extreme forced perspective, as shown on this cover, is one that many other artists picked up on and emulated.

I'd love to know how the Mandarin defeated the Green Lantern. Not that I doubt he could do it; I just love seeing Hal show up thinking he's got everything under control, only to find out the color yellow still exists.

@Ross: you are so right! Which is why it still galls me--to this day--that Wikipedia so blatantly snubbed him, on what would've been his 100th birthday, by not having a Google doodle of him.

Re: today's cover? I can only surmise that Mandy used his matter-rearranger ring to shrink the JLA and absorb them.

This does remind me of the time Felix Faust turned the JLA into the fingers of his hands.

This makes me hope that, someday, Ross can depict Despero having a chess game with the Grandmaster.

But I think he's going to find the League a bit of a handful...

Another great cover - and great comments. @Bob, I was also reminded of that great Felix Faust cover, with the Leaguers at his fingerips. And anon, I second the Despero chess game idea.

Love the Jack Kirby art especially with Chic Stone on the Mandarin and Greg Theakston on the others from the 1984 and 85 Super Powers Mini-series.

Nice having specialists that share the history so well. Agreed about the Felix reference, but will Manny keep them there? They have learned to do surprises over the years...magic and tech, even combined.
Kirby was clear about his beliefs, and the comic companies. Wonder how he would feel about everything today??

As for the chess game, the other thing is the prizes everyone would want.
