Animal Man and Machine Man

Just from their names, these two clearly don't have a lot in common.  That's of course until they come face to face with a monstrosity that perverts both of their abilities.  It would be a fun battle to see go down.

This is what happens when the Russians try to build their own Amazo. It may be powerful, but it will never get invited to join the Totalitarians.

Want to hear some crazier theories, Ivan? :-)

1) It's a Bizarro version of Cy-Gor invented by Lex Luthor and mind-controlled by Baron Brimstone.

2) It's an upgraded "Amazoo" as brought to life by the Queen of Fables from the pages of "Super Squirrel vs. The Superior Man-Spider" (copyright Capt. Carrot's day-job employers).

3) It's an amalgam of Grodd and Mr. Atom that's been sent back from the 41st century by one of Magnus the Robot Fighter's enemies.

We shall now hear from "Point/Counterpoint" correspondents Simreeve and Bob Greenwade on this subject. Boyz?

Some time displaced wayward "descendant" of both sent to end its suffering by killing both origin points.

It's obviously a cyborg kaiju. The Russians building their own Amazo may be part of it, but I think they also took bits from Mecha-Godzilla and perhaps even Machine Man's own manufacture.

That these two heroes have so little in common, besides the synchronicity of their names, actually works in their favor. If they actually existed in the same continuity, I could see them having an ongoing series as a duo, more than any other pairing on this blog (except maybe the Strange Brothers and the Power Couple).

Which I guess makes the Mecha-mammal's serial number L3N-E. "Lennie" for short!

I suggest that it's one of Brother Eye's creations from 'Future's End', sent back in time to "remove" somebody whose actions would hinder Brother Eye's rise to power... Sarah Connor, perhaps?

OOoh! I like that one. It's the best guess, yet.

Seriously, though. I just saw "...Dial Of Destiny" last night. And I liked it. Suitably bittersweet! Especially if it truly is the final Indiana Jones adventure we movie-goers will ever be privileged to see. Now, given that this film is set only four years before KONG: SKULL ISLAND, I feel compelled to ask Ross this question.

How good a chance is there that we'll see a sequel to STF #3823 featuring Indy working for Monarch?

Ken is now nominated for Funniest Outside Reference.

One of Cary's theories just gave me an idea:

How about a Captain Carrot/Spider-Ham team-up?

Ross said...

Jared, Maybe not just the two of them, but they did meet here: https://braveandboldlost.blogspot.com/2016/03/captain-carrot-zoo-crew-and-marvel-tails.html

Not to get TOO off-topic; but that link had me leafing through Zoo Crew appearances here on the blog; and I would TOTALLY love a "World's Finest" inspired recurring partnership of Captain Carrot and Darkwing Duck! (Maybe DW could even JOIN the Zoo Crew!)

Bob Greenwade said...

@Jared: I tried asking for the same pairing a while back. If finally got it done at Across Crossovers on Facebook about two years ago.

Every time that I see or hear that title, I envisage Indy dialling 'H_E_R_O'...

What a coincidence! I always picture Bobby Carswell dialing "H-A-R-E" to become Thunderbunny.* :-)
