Aquaman and The Beatles

When Marc Tyler Nobleman, a Patron of this Blog, suggested that I pair Aquaman with The Yellow Submarine, I just had to give it a try.  Thanks for the idea, Marc!  I remember the Beatles' movie freaking me out when I was a kid - especially that giant hand and the Apple Bonkers.  I later watched it during my college years, and gained a real appreciation for the inventive animation.  The music, of course, was and remains excellent to my ears.

Nicely done! That looks like the version of Aquaman from the Batman: The Brave and the Bold series, though I suspect that it's actually from somewhere else. (Still, I would've preferred to see Namor instead.) Actually, who I would've wanted to pair the Yellow Submarine with is Captain Nemo. Maybe for some future cover.

Regarding the Yellow Submarine movie, I do have a few memories of that, mainly random bits and pieces (like Ringo's "pigment of my imagination" joke, and the journey through the Sea of Holes, and the song "Nowhere Man"). I'd love to watch it again, now that this has prompted me for it, but I'm only finding it on Apple+ (to which I do not subscribe).

Aquaman traded in his seahorse for a Gas Glove?! Outrageous!

;-D

Seriously, though: I remember when CBS debuted this on on their old Friday Night Movie show. And I, too, had never seen animation like it before. Not even the feature-length Fleischer rotoscopes from the 1930's!

Thanks, Marc, for suggesting this to Ross. You are truly a Nobleman.

This has inspired me to suggest that maybe Ross should have Sargon the Sorcerer, Yarko the Mystic, El Carim, Zambini the Miracle Man, and Marvelo (Monarch of Magicians) form a singing group.

The Turban League!

Beautiful Sunday morning paper comics style cover Ross! Your layout from Marc's request is the grand slam, triple crown winner. And you blended the art styles perfectly. This definitely calls out for a T-shirt. My only question is... Which villain might be allied with the Blue Meanies?

There was a tie-in comic to Batman: The Brave & The Bold, so Aquaman could have come from there.

This is not standard, no matter which direction you look.

@Ken Roskos: how about the Blue Lama? That way, Ross could bring in The Turban League!

@Anon 8:00 - Hmm... I guess that would... wrap things up. But then again, she's probably not a... sub-scriber.

Sorry, too much Svengoolie again!

Might I suggest some relaxing meditation upon one of the multiverse's greatest mysteries. How Cassandra "Elvira" Patterson was able to make that V-shaped neckline behave, week after week!

@Anon@12:17: Up for a bit of turban renewal?

I'd prefer a ride in one of those newfangled clean & green cars with the electric "turban" engines.

Btw: if the Dark Knight were driving that sub, would that make it a...Bat-hyscaphe?

Double-sided sticking-tape, lots of it?

Was it Namor or Doctor Strange (or even both of them?) who once visited & liberated a place called 'Zephyrland'?

Namor was kind of abducted there in SUBMARINER v.1/#64. Almost winding up the love-slave of a misandryistic merwoman named Virago!* Dr. Strange merely visited it in spirit...or astral body, as the case maybe.
