This is the kind of offbeat pairing that might not set the sales charts on fire, but I would be all over. Has The Red Tornado appeared in the new 52 yet? I've always liked the character and it would be cool to see him again. I've given up on seeing ROM again due to some kind of rights issues. I'm not sure how keeping a property out of the public eye for decades benefits any company. A new ROM comic could mean a new toy line, right? Hopefully those with the rights will realize there is a profit to be made and allow ROM to star in comics again.

DC's handling of The Red Tornado has been pretty erratic, but I have found Primal Force and Young Justice to be my favorites. He was pretty beat up and broken down and unable to speak through Primal Force, which just made me wish the book had caught on, so that that could have been resolved; but he was finally reunited with the League and became the liaison and mentor with Young Justice.
I'm not a fan of Carmine Infantino's later, '80's work. All his characters look bloated. I read the Red Tornado mini-series he pencilled and it was just flat.
I don't agree with Brad Meltzer that Red Tornado is the heart of the Justice League. His first arc as League writer just didn't impress me, unfortunately. I wanted to like it.
If DC doesn't eventually reverse this New 52, I won't mind; pretty much all the classic stories have already been told. They're pretty much retelling the same stories for a newer, younger audience.
Not sure why ROM has not been rebooted, since this is the era of robots/transformers and androids in space. He is owned by Mattel right? but hey, only someone who works in toy marketing would know. An actor would only play him if he somehow had a human face that was shown frequently throughout the film (Iron Man, Thor (no helmet), Cap (no cowl). This is a new, complicated era, people.

Red Tornado was briefly mentioned in an issue of the New 52 Justice League during that whole "Throne of Atlantis" affair.
In the New 52 era, the Tornado has been used almost exclusively as a player on Earth Two - an android of feminine design (blending the two previous Earth-Two Red Tornados into a unified One). Also, DC's Channel 52 pages have referenced a Red Tornado very similar to the original Ma Hunkel version, albeit somewhat younger (of course). How in canon this is has yet to be determined.
I'm becoming an addict more and more I come to this site not knowing what to expect and it's always perfect. A friend of mine wants to see The Avenger meet Peel and Steed.
For Myself-The Impossible Mission Force meets the TOS crew and both encounter Gary-7.

@Edna: I don't know for sure who owns Rom now but I could have sworn he was first offered by a company like Parker Brothers who made board games and was becoming concerned about video games cutting into their sales. They decided to diversify by getting into action figures.

also, the licensing rights issue didn't stop IDW Publishing from doing a Rom/Mars Attacks cross over splash this year penciled by legendary artist Sal Buscema.
