Doctor Spectrum Joins The Green Lantern Corps
Geoff Johns is about to wrap up his time as writer of Green Lantern after several years, and it is pretty impressive to look back and see what he has done with the franchise during his tenure. Among the highlights of his run were the revival and redemption of Hal Jordan, the revitalization of most of the GL rogues gallery, two of DC's best crossovers ever (Sinestro Corps War and Blackest Night) and the introduction of dozens of new characters from Simon Baz to the Red, Blue, Orange and White Lanterns. Sure, some of the rainbow-lantern corps shenanigans got a little repetitive and the movie adaptation wasn't the home run I was hoping for, but for the most part Johns was the best thing to happen to the Green Lantern franchise in decades. I look forward to his future endeavors and hope that the new creative teams will be able to keep the Corps flying high!

Now that's pretty cool! Doctor Spectrum - Marvel's version of Green Lantern - from the Squadron Supreme - Marvel's version of the Justice League - joins the Green Lantern Corps.
Instead of a spotlighting the violent rage of the Red Lanterns and the selfishness of Larfleeze and the Orange Lanterns, I would really like to see the hope and inspiration of the Blue Lantern Corps. That's a missed opportunity there. I doubt that in its current state DC could make the concept anything but laughable and I think the perception is that the Blue Lanterns are ineffective. But what about somebody...like Jimmy Olsen as a Blue Lantern. An idealistic, positive hero. It worked for Barry Allen temporarily...
They did a pretty good job with the Blue Lanterns on the Animated Series.
One of the GL:TAS animators was showing around a "What could have been" image of Razr as a Blue Lantern. (link at bottom)
Initially, I found GL:TAS to be okay, not great but not bad either. Over time it really grew on me and I LOVED how they handled the Blue Lanterns and Sinestro (Ron Perlman FTW!). I was very sorry when it was cancelled.
After seeing this, I wonder of you've ever considered a Squadron Supreme/Crime Syndicate matchup?

I do have a crime syndicate cover in the pipeline...
I'm sorry but I have to respectfully disagree with your assessment of the Geoff Johns era. I'm glad he made Hal a hero again but I didn't particularly care for his take on the GL mythos and "Blackest Night" has officially replaced Marvel's "Spider-Man Deal With The Devil" as my choice for lamest storyline of all time. (From what I hear Marvel would probably be back in the running with its latest "Doc Ock as Spider-Man" nonsense, but I've stopped reading new comics and so cannot say with any degree of accuracy.) I realize I'm in the minority on this but, hey, what can I say? I'm a rapidly aging Silver Age baby boomer who thinks comics in general went downhill after "Crisis on Infinite Earths" and who believes Frank Miller did more to ruin the character of Batman than Adam West could have possibly imagined. AND for what it's worth I liked the "GL" movie.
@John Allen Small: Please get out of my head. Just about every word you wrote describes my own point of view. I have nothing to add.
and I second your opinion bob. how about more racial minority females both good and bad?nubia, bumblebee, onyx, doctor midnight, jet, betty clawman, gloss, lady shiva, owlwoman, misty knight, green fury, enforcer 2,chesire and I think you need more international heroes like shamrock, blitzkreig, peregrine, defensor, collective man, talisman, thunder, lightning, seraph, arabian knight, tuatara, bushmaster, doctor mist, sunburst, vanguard, ursa major, etc.i hope more of your covers go double female team ups.male team ups seem to dominate your creativity. how about a week of super villainess team ups from several different companies? your joker & doctor doom one was great.just some ideas for future projects.your newest fan cc.
I like most of those you mention but it all comes down to availability of usable images and that gets tough the more obscure the character is. I definitely have more all female covers in the works, including a villainess two-parter coming up soon.
Use megaton man soon also grey ghost capt midnight airboy enemy ace anthro next men
I like the logo for Doctor Spectrum; is that actually from somewhere, or did you create it yourself? I'm assuming that later, as I can't recall any solo tales published using that version of Squadron Supreme. It's a great piece of design.
It's from a Dr. Spectrum Mini-Series that spun out of JMS' Supreme Power.
How about having Dr. Spectrum face off against Power Ring from Earth 3? That should be a good brawl. In fact why not have both their respective teams meet up?
That might make for some good symmetry if you could pull it off.
That does sound cool but finding the images would be a real challenge. We'll see more of the Injustice League though.
Dear Ross: shouldn't you be able to sue DC for their unauthorized "borrowing" of the Emotional Spectrum gimmick?
Considering how much I "borrow" from them I think probably not.
