The Human Torch and Green Lantern
I realize that comic companies always like to look forward and latch on to the latest hot fads and styles, but there is definitely something to be said for looking to the past as well. I love superheroes and I love period pieces, so superhero comics set in the past have always had an appeal to me. I miss comics like All-Star Squadron or The Invaders, that were set during WWII. It's great to see the heroes operating in the time frame that they were actually created in, and it takes me back to reading those classic Golden Age reprints of their original adventures. I can only imagine what it must have been like for a kid to read those wartime comics fresh off of the stands.

Dave sez,
The Green Flame and the First Marvel! This issue is on fire!
I'm giving Earth 2 a try because of James Robinson. I was a fan of his Starman, and through Jack Knight his look at Golden Age heroes. I liked his Golden Age mini series.
What I don't care for is the mandate that these Golden Age characters be updated and made contemporary. I'm not talking about Alan Scott. I'm talking about all of the heroes being rebooted.
You just can't top Roy Thomas on The Invaders and All-Star Squadron!
All-Star Squadron was one of the first books I ever collected!
Another nice job...this one "blends" nicely...both in content and composition!
This is one of your better covers- the images fit together both in perspective and similarity in drawing style. Nicely done! And it would have been a mind-blowing comic to have seen back in the 40s...
I love the Golden Age too, and this is one of your better covers. The figures and the logos go together so well.
A side comment: I know you've done at least three covers with Doctor Who, but only one is tagged "Doctor Who." The DW/Spectre cover was recent, so it's still easy to find, but please tag it before it gets lost in the shuffle. I remember seeing a DW/Batman cover, but I can't find it in the archives.
Thanks, Bob - I labeled the Spectre Cover. I didn't do a Batman/Who cover though - you may be thinking of a Dean Trippe "Spacetime's Finest" cover that's been floating around the web.
Just wondering if you recently changed something. As of Saturday I can no longer view your covers on my phone, I just get a blue box with a question mark. I've been following since before Lost B&B became SuperTeam, and this is my first problem. At least I can still view on my computer at home!
It seems to work fine on my phone and I haven't changed anything.
Definitely one of the best covers you've done!
yeah, why these comic companies, DC in particular don't mine and pimp their old history I have no idea. It'd expose the old stuff to new fans, equaling buys for any archived stuff they'd put out.
Cool cover and definitely a team-up I'd love to see. Of course a team-up with The Twelve, or the Twelve's Flaming Mask and Alan Scott would be cool as hell as well.
no title? how bout doc savage meets doc sampson robo force and transformers or metal men and robo force
I liked how the image came out so much that I didn't want to clutter it with dialogue or captions.
Speedball and bouning boy

Same with me! I thought I probably accidentally changed a setting on my Android phone, but if someone else is having the same problem, then maybe something changed at the hosting site. The page logo comes up OK, but since last weekend, it only shows a blue box with a question mark where the covers should be. This happens whether I look at the page in mobile mode or full web mode. Works fine on my laptop PC, though!
This is up there with the Golden Age Superman and Human Torch one in issue #277. Stunning.
