The Spectre and Ghost Rider

The 90's were a crazy time for comics.  Poplarity and speculation were at an all time high and comic companies were doing whatever they could to keep up with the demand.  The Spectre and Ghost Rider were two characters that benefited from the influx of new titles.  Once a C-Lister, the Ghost Rider got a second chance and hit a chord with readers, going on to support multiple titles and becoming one of Marvel's star players for a while.  The 1990's Spectre series by John Ostrander and Tom Mandrake was one of the best (and most overlooked) titles from the decade.  It's an almost perfect 60-issue run and it's a shame that more people dod not get a chance to catch it.  Hopefully now that Jim Corrigan has been reinstated as The Spectre in the New 52, DC will consider reprinting the series in trade paperback form..

Dave sez,

Great team-up! Love the cover!

As cool as The Spectre is...he has one of the worst costumes in comics. Talk about wardrobe malfunction! The only costume worse if J'onn J'onzz.

If he wouldn't get lost against The Spirit and The Phantom Stranger, i would suggest that he go with a simple suit and hat with a cape. Or maybe a trench coat; a costume based on the clothes he died in or was buried in.

Lose the Robin pixie shoes...

You're right about Spectre's 90's series being underrated. It was the best thing I read back then. Even better than the Aparo run (and that one was tough to beat.), so maybe he'll get some love in the schmmo... err... I mean New 52.

Such an obvious team-up suggestion I wonder why it hasn't been done before, and no, the Amalgam Speed Demon one-shot doesn't count;)

But seriously how cool would a team-up comic featuring these two have been back in the 90's?

Art credits on this one please?

Dave mentioned The Spirit and the Phantom Stranger... now, those two might make for an interesting team-up.

The Spirit, John Law, Midnight... they're all pretty much the same Eisner character.
