It's interesting that both of these villains now have solo film franchises of their own. While The Joker has just completed filming of the sequel to its Oscar worthy first film, Venom is gearing up for the third outing of his cheesy but fun trilogy. I'm curious to see what the next cinematic outing holds for both of them.

there’s never been a better Joker than Dick Sprang’s…
but it would not take him long to get the better of Venom…
who overall lacks Imagination no matter who’s inside…
Never heard the Joker referred to as an "it" before...
After dealing with Ultraman and Reverse Flash, Joker is lucky Venom hasn't "gagged" him already. Joker isn't going to have someone to use as leverage against Venom.
And, Daviticus, how was Joker referred to as an "it"? From " it's interesting... "?
I’m going to say it: Joker with a Symbiote would be VERY dangerous but VERY interesting.
Ross, I was on a Facebook group this morning and the folks were talking about how we all geeked out when the Shi'ar Imperial Guard was created and we'd spend time matching them to our favorite LSH lineup.
Have you ever thought of doing one of those Buscema head-to-head covers or one of those big full-page Perez battles with the LSH versus the Imperial Guard? (I imagine it would take quite some time!)
The two teams have met on the blog. Not enough images exist of the IG to make a head to head cover though.
I hate to say it; but there's DEFINITELY a clash of art styles here. Venom's a very "nineties" character, so pairing him up with Sprang's 40s/50s Joker is just jarring. The idea works; but the art just doesn't go together....
While Jared has a point about the clashing art styles, that's the only thing that's wrong with this picture. The poses do match up nicely, the dialogue is dead-on, the background totally works, and the story is super catchy.
And I'm still of a mind to see, at the very least, the Tangent Universe Joker teamed with Jack in the Box. Even better would be an entire team of clown-themed superheroes, if you can find enough such characters with good images.
Another fun idea would be the Joker's Wild vs the Bondsmen, in a 100-page special.
And while we have Robo-Force, do we have a team of cyborgs? Cyborg himself, plus Forge and Robocop, would be a good start; Steve Austin, Seven of Nine, and even Inspector Gadget would also be welcome.
@Daviticus/Tobor: When Ross said, "While The Joker has just completed filming of the sequel to its Oscar worthy first film," the "its" refers to the first Joker movie and its franchise, not to the character.
I believe the "it" in the sentence "While The Joker has just completed filming of the sequel to its Oscar worthy first film" is referring to the film, not the character.
Bob Greenwade beat me to it.
@Daviticus: what the two anonymii said.
@Ross: I think the Creeper would dispute Venom's claim. He'd probably the Joker's grin the _3rd_ biggest in Gotham City (and Venom's numero dos)! This, in turn, could lead to a sequel sometime in the New Year. A sequel which would also be a team-up you haven't yet done in the almost-12 years since you started STF.
VENOM VS. THE CREEPER!
Ross,
When I clicked on Imperial Guard, I only got two issues:

Where did I mess up?
;-(

I see what happened...the Imperial Guard was never tagged at the bottom of #3108.
I'm hoping to someday see a Xmas cover-sim where the Avengers are trying to stop the LSH (mind-controlled by Kang) from changing the history of the Nativity.
I second Anon251's idea.
Joker WITH a symbiote would be an artsy Carnage. As for this issue, at the climax of the story, I expect Venom to grab Joker and draw him close:
Venom:"Hello Clown... We have ONE question."
Joker: "Yes?"
Venom: "Do you TASTE funny?"
All hail, Marc H. The NEW King of Puns @ STF!
:-)
Marc just took an old joke, and applied it to this situation.
Masterfully done (like when Ben Grimm was told, "You don't look Jewish"), but not a King of the Puns move.
From the Iron-bound Book of Skelos (v.453).
"And there did come upon the lands of Hyboria a power struggle between Prince Bob of Greenwade and the Duke Tective of Tobor for the throne of the Kingdom of Puns."
"Their struggles came to naught, however, as they were each brought low through the guile and swordsmanship of Marc H(oward) the Barbarian."
@Anon453: lol! Are you hinting that Marc H is related to REH? :-)
Wizard Magazine made a series of Amalgam characters, and one of them was exactly this.

Reminds me more of Grendel wearing the Mask of Loki.
trouble with long term super-hero fights are deck-aides of LOUD rumbles
while i am known for my pun-manship, i have no problem with bowing to the wader on the green.
Don't forget to leave that wader a big tip. ;-)
@Carycomic: in the immortal words of Dino-Boy's sidekick? "Ugh!"
