Sub-Mariner meets Dick Tracy

Now that Namor has been introduced to the MCU, I wonder where he will show up next.  My choice would be for him to team up with Dr. Strange and The Hulk (and The Silver Surfer, if he shows up in Fantastic Four as has been rumored) for a Defenders movie.  That way, Marvel can get around the loophole that Hulk and Sub-Mariner cannot have their own solo films.  I'd also like to see him putting the moves on Sue Storm just as he has done in the comics.

I wonder if Shaky is allied with Black Manta, Warlord Krang, or both?

Then, again, he could be working with The Octopus (arch-enemy of The Spirit and the crime lord of his home town, Central City). If so, wouldn't it be fitting if The Octopus proved to be a member of The Cthulhu Clan? That, in turn, Ross, would allow you to post a sequel cover featuring Tracy, Dr. Occult _and_ the Spirit!

"May The Fedora Force Be With You."

Excellent layout Ross! You've blended the style from those times perfectly. I can easily see Namor and Tracy getting on each others' nerves right away, then working together to solve the case.

This is the first I've heard of Sub-Mariner not being allowed a solo film. I thought the motion picture rights were tied to those of the Fantastic Four, as a Fox property and therefore now fully owned by Disney. But I ran off and looked it up, and sure enough, Universal holds the distribution rights, and they won't work with Disney on it because, as Mark Ruffalo pointed out, they don't like to make money.

(Hey, Universal Studios! You're holding on tight to the movie distribution rights for Hulk, Sub-Mariner, and related characters, right? How's that working out for you?)

As for today's cover, I suspect that this situation may trace back to the Death Dealer of the Dead Sea (from #3710)!

@Bob: an even better tie-in with STF #1989! Mr. Greenwade? You're a genius.

:-)

@Cary: I had to go hunt down the link for #1989, but yes, that could be a good tie-in, as well as a decent reason to team up Dr. Occult and the Sub-Mariner (and possibly bring Abe Sapien back for the purpose).

The cover styles are blended beautifully. Interesting to see if Marvel is starting to have potholes in their travels to major box office receipts.
Happier holidays and New Year.

@Bob & Tobor: Maybe they can do a cinematic crossover with the DCEU. Aquaman vs. the Mayan Submariner.

I'd be in favor of a movie like that! But, only if they called it "Men From Atlantis." With special guest-star Patrick Duffy...as Admiral Peter "The Fin" Noble.

@Carycomic, while i like Men From A., i think it might be easier for them to usher in a new entry for Men in Black in the mix.

@Cary & Tobor: split the difference, guys. Make it the feature film debut of Martin Mystery vs. the Atlantean Men-in-Black (his recurring enemies in the French comic book).

A photo cover with Namor, Aquaman, and Abe Sapien would be brilliant, if it can be pulled off. In fact, if Namor and Aquaman each bring along four underwater allies, you could call it "Ocean's Eleven"!

Sounds kind of fishy to me. ;-)

@Bob G, does that earn a cookie..or a fishcake?

@Tobor: Worth a cookie.

What would I get if I suggested a Dick Tracy/Han Solo team-up featuring an alliance of convenience between Shaky...and Pizza the Hutt?
