Wonder Woman Vs. Predator

I still get a kick out of watching old Wonder Woman episodes on MeTV from time to time.  I would have loved to have seen her face off with more villains from the comics though. Marbe it would have been tough to feature Cheetah on a 70's TV budget, but I bet that they could have pulled off Giganta or Doctor Psycho.

The A.B.C. version of W.W. set in W.W.Ii. (No red stripes on breast plate)Too bad George Reeves couldn't be in the crowd as Clark Kent.

ABC could probably have managed the Golden Age Cheetah, as any actress cast as Priscilla Richmond would have simply had to wear a leopard-print unitard with matching tail and cat-eared skullcap. As for Dr. Psycho? My first choice would have been Michael Dunn (the original Dr. Loveless from THE WILD WILD WEST: TOS). But, I think he had passed away by the mid-1970's. So, my second choice would have been the actor who played Loveless, Jr. in the first TWWW reunion movie-for-TV. As well as the narcissistic plutocrat Swan in PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE.

The often under-estimated Paul Williams.

This got me pondering about whether Egg Fu could've been done on the show. I don't think he would've been doable in comics-accurate form, but put someone like Mako or James Wong in a bald cap it might've worked as something like Vincent Price's Egghead but less cheesy (and certainly less cheesy than the comics version).

I'm still hoping we can see a cover with Lynda Carter and Reb Brown, for the 1980 TV-Movie with Wonder Woman and Captain America! (You probably already have the next WW/Cap appearance figured out, but that one really should be somewhere on your "to-do" list.)

Bob, sounds like you are describing the WW/Cap cover from STF #2080, 12/23/17

Cool cover using the actors. Now I just realized that you could use a picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator or some other live action heroes and villains and use them for covers too. Somehow I thought you were only able to use TV shows and such. Don't know why I didn't realize you could use the more modern movies and TV shows for covers, too. It is probably harder to sort through to find the right one.
I just want to say thanks for all you have done. These are great! I know I and probably most of the others can never know just how much effort and frustrations goes to make each cover. I hope you are happy doing this for a long time to come.

Thanks, OG! I find photo covers a little toucher to make work (most images cut off a a chunk of the actor's body so it can be tough finding useable ones), but I have some more ideas for fun match ups.

well as always i love your photo covers and this Wonder Woman vs Predator one is as usual a fantastic one.....
the question about the Lynda Carter and Reb Brown cover got me athinking about the other actors who have played both WW and Cap and in doing a check i found the Gal Gadot and Chris Evens cover....
however there is no representation for Mat Salinger's Cap or any of the other 4 live action Wonder Women....
Elle Walker Woods or Linda Harrison from the William Dozser TV pilot a'la TVs Batman....
Cathy Lee Crosby from the TV movie....
or Adrianna Padileckie from a few years back......

Now that you mention it, Ross, considering Land of the Giants and Dr. Shrinker had already been done, Gianta woukd've been an easy one for them. Heck, even go the other route and do Mouse Man too!

This would've made for a great reunion episode between Lynda Carter and Timothy O'Connor-as-Andros. In fact, it might've nicely bridged the gap between the character's ABC appearance and his return, on CBS, as the inexplicably rejuvenated version played by Dack Rambo!*

*For instance; Andros Senior gets fatally wounded by the Predator. Necessitating the transfer of his consciousness into a much-younger clone body (hereafter known as "Andros Junior").

@jack-el: Actually my Reb Brown match-up should've been with Cathy Lee Crosby.

I know Adrianne Palicki did a failed TV pilot as Wonder Woman, but I'm not able to find any other live-action Wonder Woman actresses. Were there two more that I can't find?

in 1967 a jokey 4 minute pilot was made by the folks behind the jokey TV Batman called Wonder Woman: Who's Afraid of Diana Prince? Ellie Wood Walker plays Diana Prince who lives in an apartment with her mother and is working as a superhero....
a bumbling, klutzy superhero....
but when she looks into a full length mirror she sees her reflection a perfect specimen superhero Wonder Woman (reflection played by Linda Harrison from the movie Planet of the Apes).....

then in 1974 a TV movie staring Cathy Lee Crosby was made as a possible pilot but not by the same people.....

Well now, Don't forget when Penny dressed as Wonder Woman and Sheldon said those immortal words...."In what universe is Wonder Woman a Blonde?"

Sheldon?! I don't recall any "Lost In Space" characters named Sheldon.

@jack-el: I don't know that I'd really count that Ellie Wood Walker/Linda Harrison bit; it reads to me more like a one-off skit, or at most a test project. I'd still limit the list to Crosby, Carter, Palicki, and Gadot.

is that anywhere nears Cartoon Coroner's, (Gene) London?

Carycomic said...

Nope! It was a Xmas-time episode from LIS: TOS Season 1.

jack-el said...

a question.....
should cover #3004 (the movie serial versions of Captains America and Marvel) count as a photo cover?????

Anonymous said...

Jack-El's right: It should be included under the cumulative "photo cover" tag.

Ross said...

Those are painted images of photos, not photos themselves, they don't count.

More's the pity. :-(
