Nova and The Flash in: "Fleet Week!"

OK, Supergirl has been pretty much sidelined so far in her final season, The Cast of Black Lightning has lost their powers and The Flash barely ever uses his speed anymore.  What's going on with the CW shows - budget crunch?

Nova and The Flash shared a bronze age adventure in STF #2613...

I am always happy to feature the artwork of Carlos Pacheco on this blog - Here's a page of his I picked up many years back from his FF run:

*Supergirl has been pregnant and was away for her high school reunion episode.
*CW lost income from the virus and special effects have been diverted to others
welcome to a radio budget on tv

Another great team-up and cover! Nice job!

Were the threads from Wally's time? Hyper Schooling? Before the training is done, Nova will have to face his problem. Future cover?

@Ross: I'd say they're finally paying the price for their writers putting the soap-operatics ahead of the superheroics.

With regard to this cover-sim. Is that dark Nova helmet from Marvel's "Annihilation" story arc?

Tobor - Yes I heard Benoist was pregnant, that makes sense

Tony: Thank you!

Cary, I think so, I know these aren't his usual Duds. It's the Earth-STF Nova, so it all makes sense.

CW losing money from the virus and so scaling back on the SFX budget makes sense. And scaling back crossovers (to a handful of two-show events) also makes sense for both budget and creative considerations. While Supergirl and Black Lightning are in their final seasons, I do hope the other superpowered shows (The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Stargirl) can get back to their effects-laden roots for next season, as well as Superman & Lois giving us a bit more in its second.

On a related note, I'd love to see Sam Wilson in his winged Captain America suit teamed up with BL. I think that the former's "my only power is that I believe we can do better" line would sit quite well with the latter right about now.

@Mr. Greenwade: I won't hold my breath (re: improvement in the much-diminished quality of the CW super-shows). As for Sam Wilson; high-flying successor to the Golden Age Capt. America? I'm not so sure about the quality of the spin-off to the "Winter Soldier" film, either. I mean, even that commercial for Hulu seems to be poking not-so-good fun at it!

Legends of T. are packed with CGI characters. Guess That is where most of the cw's budget went.

I miss Infantino's after images on Flash and his futuristic cityscapes.

What if I can't prove that i'm not a robot?

Ross: I'm not certain where the different shows are filmed. But there are certain guidelines that have to be dealt with during filming. I'm an extra on CHICAGO PD, MED, and FIRE. They dropped down from 100 extra to 30 per episode. If you watch any of the shows, and if you've ever been to Chicago, you'll say "Where is everybody?" And we get tested every day, even though I've had both shots of Pfizer.

The majority of close-up scenes are with no more than three characters, and if you an extra in a hospital bed (as an example) you'll see the filming is very nicely done with social distancing that you won't see on TV.

I don't know how much of that will affect the shows. But it allowed them to film. Georgia is even stricter. Anyone watching FEAR THE WALKING DEAD right now might notice that there are only three characters that are concentrated on per episode. Maybe one or two walkers.

Don't know if that gives you a feel for it, but it is very strange last fall up to now when we film, and as an extra, I might be in the background of any of the three shows because the sets are in a huge warehouse near the old Stockyards.

It's the Illinois Film Commission, different states might have different rules/mandates. At least it got the shows back on.

And sorry for the typos, I shouldn't even be typing at 4AM.

@Wayne: Black Lightning is filmed in the Atlanta area; all the other Arrowverse shows (plus Stargirl) are in the Vancouver BC area.

Felt the same way about Legends of Tomorrow. I eventually dropped that show as it just got too silly.

Captain Cold as a time-traveling anti-hero made the whole series too silly to watch...from the get-go!

I'm forced to agree with Anon.
