God zilla Vs. Kong was pretty much what I expected it would be. The plot didn't make a lot of sense and the humans were constantly making silly decisions - but the special effects and monster battles were awesome to behold! I've watched it twice and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. I am glad to hear that a follow up is in the works, this time focusing on Son of Kong. That has some fun possibilities!

Or, at the opposite end of the spectrum, Speed Racer joins the Wacky Races!
Speed Racer will be returning in the not so distant future. Don't be surprised if you find some interesting entrants into the Wacky Races at some point either.

Seriously, though: this was a stroke of brilliance. I can just see the Seng Brotherhood having somehow kidnapped Kong from Faro Island (his home in Toho's KING KONG ESCAPES) for use against the Phantom. Sort of like burning down the whole farm just to de-rat one barn! But, they might have seen it as one of those proverbial desperate measures.
Hence, Kit Walker calling on the help of an old college classmate: Clark Kent.
P.S.---is that the movie serial Phantom from the 1940's?
It is.
the Phantom from the 40s was played by Tom Tyler who was also the 40s actor who portrayed Captain Marvel (ie Shazam) in The Adventures of Captain Marvel movie serial from Republic i believe....
Great Caesar's Ghost!! What a time for my reporters to not be around. The Super Friends have been changed but no one knows who did it. Their signals were for Supergirl, Batwoman, Flash, Black Lightning, White Canary, Martian Manhunter, y and Superman. Now, they're changed to call Supergirl, Batwoman, Flash, Martian Manhunter, Dream Girl, Brainiac 5 and Sentinel.
All this after they already created a new Earth in a new universe. Why? Can someone PLEASE explain why they got rid of some of their big guns for these small pistols?
Columbia, who was also behind the Phantom serial, did the Superman serial with Kirk Ayan (uncredited so the kiddies believed he was THE Superman because "we" all know kids are stupid). Republic came to National Comics (pre-DC) with the idea of doing a serial first but they turned it down, so Captain Marvel got it instead.
Hmmm... Tom Tyler played both Captain Marvel and the Phantom. Kirk Alyn was both Superman and Blackhawk. Not sure where I'm going with this, but it sounds like a unique four-man team-up.
i agree with Bob, a double Alyn and Tyler live-action photo cover of Superman, Captain Marvel, the Phantom and Blackhawk teamed up together.......
At least a double Tom Tyler photo cover would be worth the trouble (IMO).
Tom Tyler also played the Mummy in the serial "The Hand of the Mummy".....
Didn't he also star in a serial called "Tom Tyler's Luck?"
That was "Tim Tyler's Luck." It was a comic strip that was made into a movie serial, starring Frankie Thomas as Tim Tyler.

say Ross, i have a few suggestions for a few live action covers (or photo covers as you call them in the listings).....
firstly how about the republic serial Phantom meet either or both sets of Columbia's Batman and Robin movie serial heroes....
i would love to see cover combination of all the movie versions of the Scarecrow of Romney Marsh with George Arliss and Peter Cushing and Patrick McGoohan.....
