The Ivy League

Ever since Poison Ivy mentioned that she was building an Ivy League in STF #2714, I've been meaning to actually put that team together on a cover.  I've also been meaning to use Audrey II for a while.  I still remember going to see a live production of Little Shop of Horrors in Boston when I was in my teens, and loving it.  I still listen to the soundtrack, so many fun songs.

Where's the Floronic Man?

I wanted a team of plants that can be grown, he didn't quite fit the bill since he was an alien that controlled plants who only later transformed himself to be more plant like.

The real question is, since they are not "meats", how will Ivy feel about them? Will there be any special loyalty to any or all of them?

Wasn't Lord Pumpkin a member of some Marvel imprint group called The Supernaturals?

@Cary: Close! Lord Pumpkin is from the Ultraverse of Malibu Comics (which was ultimately bought up by Marvel). The group I think you're thinking of is called "The Nocturnals." And while they were first published by Malibu's Bravura imprint, they're owned by author/creator Daniel Brereton.

P.S.---for those who prefer Groot The Good Guy? That's the evil "King Groot" as first drawn by Jack Kirby back in the Early Silver Age (more or less when Atlas--nee Timely--Comics first changed their name to Marvel)

@Ross: Poison Ivy was also not grown like a plant, too.

True, but that's why she made a "league of her own".

I didn't think I'd like this team but they grew on me.

I would've hoped to see Reginald Bushroot on this team. Maybe if this group ever has a return engagement... and they can be backed up by an army of Vervoids.

Oh, and here's a thought for a photo cover: Gene Wilder and Millie Bobby Brown as siblings Sigerson and Enola Homes.

Another idea: Marvel has its "Council of Reeds," and the Arrowverse has (rather, had) its "Council of Wells"; some people here have asked for a similar thing done with Hercules. But how about Ares? DC and Marvel each have their own version, plus there the Disney version from Hercules and the Xenaverse version. These guys, along with any other variants of the Greek god you can find, could become: The War Council!

And, debuting in STF #3333, the "Parliament of Threes!"

@Anonymous242: GRRRRRRRRRROAN!

So much love for including Lord Pumpkin here. I thought the Ultraverse was long forgotten... other than me having literally every issue of every Ultraverse comic in my basement.

Glad the idea has finally flowered. Nothing can stem the tide of your creativity. Nice to branch out into the Ultraverse, too.

Awesome cover. Has Marvel ever done a Silver Age (villainous) Groot vs the modern Guardians of the Galaxy Groot? Or are they just the same being rebooted? (said in Kirk's Star Trek II voice: "Reboots!")

"rebooted"? Shouldn't that be "rerooted"?

More like "transplanted." ;-D
