Kolchak has faced off against all kinds of paranormal creatures, but he may have finally met his match this time around. Let's hope his years of investigation have prepared him to deal with such an epic encounter.

As Sean "Spicoli" Penn might say: "Ross-some! Totally Ross-some!
The only way you might (arguably) be able to top this is if Kolchak teamed up with Conan the Barbarian (Arnold version) against Sauron of Moria!
This sounds like song "The Devil Went Down to Georgia"
I suspect this would not be direct interaction but a series of encounters with Mephisto influenced people he would be trying to save.
I sincerely hope not. I remember the giant-sized issue of Marvel Team-Up featuring Spidey and Dracula. No direct interaction between those two, whatsoever! Drac might as well have been guest-starring in Webhead's parent mag.
Kolchak has faced Vampires on TV but Vampirella would be a different type of encounter.
Vinchenzo, Have I got a story for YOU!!!
I know Carl. The police have already been here!!
"Carl, This is your LIFE!! ". ....And THAT would be Mephisto's opening gambit.
Mephisto doesn't have to threaten, he doesn't have anything to lose anywhere that we know of....does he?? Ross-some!!! (love that!)
This would be an interesting story, and the cover is interestingly done as well. Seriously; it does grab the attention.
But here's something that would be almost as much of a challenge to do: Scrooge McDuck vs. Jack Benny.
Sorry, wouldn't bank on that.
@Tobor: good one!!! :-)
@Bob Greenwade: the only artist I know who can compete with Alex Ross is Daniel Brereton. Especially when it comes to fantasy noir!
Carycomic: Scrooge, Jack, Black Panther, Richie Rich, Tony Stark, & Bruce Wayne as The Moneybags?? Stock & Traders? any others to add?
Green Arrow in some periods.
Talisa Soto version?
The Bill Collectors (as in, those who owe debts to society)?
Only till somebody else gives him the shaft.
At which point, he loses his arrow-shirt, again!
