X-Men and The Outsiders in "The Taming of the Phoenix!"

These groups have a bit of history on the blog - The Outsiders first met The Phoenix in STF #112, and the one hero able to withstand The Phoenix Force was revealed in STF #2526... The X-Men came to The Outsiders assistance in STF #2595... and both teams had an adventure at The Statue of Liberty in STF #2675...

I can see GeoForce likening Jean Grey's situation to his own sister's fall from grace and NOT wanting Katana to use her soul-consuming sword on her.

Unless this is a prequel to STF #2526, it's pretty much obvious that they found that one hero. As Halo is standing to Black Lightning's right! Although, she does seem to have gotten a haircut in the interim.

I am going to guess the one hero to withstand the 'cosmic force' is Metamorpho. Am I right?

@Unknown: the link to STF #2526 shows Halo getting in Dark Phoenix's face. So, I'd have to say...wrong.

If not for the discussion herein, I would've guessed that "the one hero able to withstand" the Phoenix Force would be The Tick.

Which makes me wonder how a Superman vs. Dark Phoenix head-to-head match-up would go (even though he's met her a few times as part of the JLA)!

(Dark Phoenix would also make an interesting mismatch against the Inferior 5.)

The Phoenix Force can be hosted by people other than Jean, too. If that isn't "mutants-only" then how about Phoenix-ized versions of the Inferior Five?
:D

Please, no! Ross forbid!!

On second thought: I wouldn't be opposed to the Inferior Five being recruited to form a new Secret Six...led by Bobbi "Mockingbird" Morse.

I rather like Cary's "New Secret Six" suggestion.

So do I. And the people targeted for "extreme prejudice" by that new Secret Six? Spy vs. Spy!

Actually, for an opponent (sticking with third-party characters), I'd tend to go with The Terror (The Tick's nemesis). Or maybe Godzilla.

I'd rather see Godzilla take on the Black Terror.*

*For those too young to remember Project SuperPowers from Dynamite Entertainment? He's a Golden Ager who was like Superman & Batman rolled into one.
