The Quarrymen (The Animated Series!)

The Quarrymen continue to evolve in their fourth appearance.  The team began when The Thing met Igoo in STF #163, Blok joined in STF #270,  Badrock was recruited in STF #1185, and now they have their own cartoon show!  Despite the similarity of stony forms, these heroes all have very different personalities.  I bet this would actually be a fun group to follow.

They've just got to cross-over with the Beatles, who [in RL] used the 'Quarrymen' name first...
:D

@Simreeve: why not? It's seems less of a stretch than giving the Expansion Team their own animated series. ;-D

Just no X-overs w/ Fred & Barney!!! If you don't get it, look up the worst Saturday Morning cartoons of the 80s friends.

I gotta agree with Simreeve's idea. It'll probably be well into next year before we see it, but the result would -- dare I say it? -- totally rock!

As for the cartoon series, I think it probably would've been a one-season wonder that went on to become a cult favorite. (The team comic, on the other hand, would've been a bi-monthly that lasted a good ten to fifteen years or so.)

As for crossovers, I could see them having the Gargoyles and the Beatles as guest stars (on separate occasions, of course), as well as visits from the Herculoids, Fantastic Four, and Legion of Super-Heroes, and at least a cameo from Bamm-Bamm Rubble. I'm sure the producers would've also found a way to get them involved with the Addams Family, the animated Harlem Globetrotters, Gilligan's Island, and of course Scooby-Doo (who crossed over with just about everyone in those days, short of the Ewoks of Endor... which wouldn't be an unwelcome sight on this blog, now that I think of it!).

More team-up thoughts:

- It's been seven years since Ghost has appeared on here. Why not pit her against her namesake Marvel villain? I think there was also some talk a while ago about putting her into a team with the Phantom, the Spirit, the Shadow, and possibly the Spectre.

- Bouncing Boy and Tigger. 'Nuff said.

- Has Snoopy appeared on here in his superhero persona, the Masked Marvel? He might be a fun match-up with Stupendous Man. Or team him up with Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan) as The Marvels approaches.

- Even though it's not generally your thing (with one or two rare exceptions), I think it might be fun to do an occasional tribute cover to some of our great contemporary voice actors. The most versatile classic artists tended to stay in one place (Mel Blanc, Bill Thompson), but today we have the likes of Jim Cummings, Tara Strong, and of course Frank Welker. Just the thought of Darkwing Duck and Minsc teaming up against General Parvo with Hondo Ohnaka selling tickets on the side would be incredible.

The Masked Marvel and Stupendous Man have indeed met on this blog. Ghost is one of those characters (Like Axe Cop, Zen, Zot, Rai, Turok and a handful of others) for whom I have never actually read any comics of, so that accounts for their rare appearances - I just don't know enough about them! I do have plans for Bamm Bamm and The Globetrotters, though! The voice artist thing sounds a little too inside baseball, I'm not sure any but hardcore fans would get it.

I remember Stupendous Man and Masked Marvel sharing that first cover, BUT... if my memory serves correctly, Stupendous Man and Masked Marvel went on to be founding members of the Legion of Awesome! One of my personal favorite teams original to this blog!

I yield on the Masked Marvel matter... except for the part about teaming him with Ms. Khan. I still think he'd be a fun complication for her (or she'd be a cool feature in his fantasies), and a nice way to acknowledge The Marvels.

Similarly, Ghost vs. Ghost would appropriate if the Marvel one is announced for Quantumania -- though Stature will of course be the expected figure here, possibly on a date with Colossal Boy or some such thing.

It also just occurred to me that, with The Book of Boba Fett approaching, he'll probably be returning to these pages. He'd be an interesting challenge for most heroes; don't forget, he killed seven Stormtroopers with what amounts to a toothbrush. I think he'd be an interesting challenge for the likes of Sam Wilson in Captain America mode (the MCU version with the vibranium super-suit), Odo, or even Batman.

As long as the theme song isn't Dylan's 'Everybody Must Get Stoned'

A cartoon matchup I'd love to see is Thing vs Duke Nukem (the radioactive Captain Planet villain not the video game character)

It's always great to see the return of Blok!

How about Marvel's Ghost vs. the Charlton Ghost (Alec Rois)?

I'd rather see the Saturday morning Ghostbusters vs. the syndicated weekday Ghostbusters. Although, I'd be willing for it to be at the instigation, behind the scenes, of Anon859's suggestion!*

*Animated spin-off of the 1980's Bill Murray movies vs. animated spin-off of the 1970's live-action Filmation series.
