Another one is Atomic Robo
Robots that look robotic? Some may get nightmares from that. Look for Japan's 8Man or 8th Man in the States. Both an animated and a live film.
What's extra-cool about this team-up is that they're both robots fighting WWII.
I'm wondering if there are more WW2 robotic heroes who could join them as a team. The Vision & Red Tornado come to mind, the Human Robot too, granted not WW2 but there is potential.

Robots? Robots. Have GI Robot battle Frankenstein & see how it does. For robots, try Gort from the original Day Earth Stood Still. That is a robot. Nowdays, androids and clones have pretty much zeroed out the need for simple robots.

At last, the true origin of Robo Force!
I think Gort's a little after WWII. There just aren't a lot of actual robots (android or otherwise) from that period, even in later stories set during the war. Even the Golden Age Robotman was a human brain in a robotic body -- though he might qualify as leader of the Golden Age Robo-Force! Maybe if someone could even come up with a time-traveling heroic robot (who isn't already on one of the other two teams), we could have a group.
If a Golden Age Robo-Force does happen, there are plenty of potential adventures: a Terminator sent back to kill a US Army General who happens to be Sarah Connors' grandfather; Brainiac arriving ahead of schedule; or battling Mechagodzilla.
Where's Robby the Robot? He's known well enough.
Robby is also too late in the timeline (he first appeared in "Forbidden Planet," in 1956).
Looking at Wikipedia's list of fictional robots, perhaps the group could include Futura from Metropolis, and Tik-Tok from L. Frank Baum's Oz books. I really don't see any other good ones.
@Bob Greenwade: but, in-story, he traveled back in time from circa the 22nd century, courtesy of some MIA scientist mentioned in THE INVISIBLE KID.*
*A sequel that starred (among others) Philip Abbott and the voice of Michael Rennie as the voice of a rogue A.I. circa the in-story 1980's!
