Gandalf and Elfquest

I always admired the beautiful artwork on Elfquest, but I never got around to checking out the series.  It seemed like such an epic adventure that I would have to read the complete collection to appreciate it all, not a series that I could just jump into the middle of with a random issue.  I heard off an on about an animated adaptation being planned, but nothing ever seemed to come of that.  Hopefully It will get made one of these days.

Very cool to see ElfQuest here. I remember back when it was part of Marvel's Epic line for a bit.
I also remember a silly spoof comic called ElfTrek where it was revealed that one of the elves from the Quest was in fact the son of Mr. Spock :D

Nearly the entire series is available to read online.

Per the Warp rules of Elfquest: Elfquest characters are (c) and TM of Warp Graphics.

According to the TP I read, "Elfquest" was sort of a Tolkienized version of certain Native American oral histories. Particularly those of the Athapascan language family!

According to the CREATOR, she took more inspiration from Japanese manga. Don't try to sell Elfquest as a Tolkien knock off.

Ross, at least check out the original Elfquest series (21 issues, collected several times and available for online reading) to get a feel for the Pini's incredible work. Through the years Elfquest got confusing with too many tribes of elves, time-periods, and human civilizations to keep track of, but the original work is still pure gold.

@Ananda: I don't have to try. It did that all by itself. ;-)

"Final Fantasy."

Ah! If only that video game franchise would finally live up its name.

I read it when it came out and thought it was amazing and was constantly lending my comics to others who would ask "Is this Marvel or DC?" and I would reply "Neither". Not remember the Epic Elfquest however. There was a book retconned out due to legal issues.

Just a random idea (It will be tough to match all the differing artistic styles, I admit): Foreign Superheroes.

"When the whole world is at risk, only a world-wide response can save it!"

Nelvana (Canada)
Darna (The Philippines)
Super Cholita (Bolivia)
Nagraj (India)

Note that these (and others like them) AREN'T merely superheroes from American comics that happen to be from other countries - they are their OWN COUNTRY'S comic book superheroes!

FACTOID: Weird World (EPIC Magazine MARVEL) is younger than Elfquest. If it's a fun fact (whatever that means? No I mean it the phrase makes nonsense to me.) well that's up to you.

FACTOID Urshurak was supposed to be an Animated Feature. SIDE Factoid I first read it in Reader's Digest in 1978.
