Black Lightning and Jolt

Black Lightning on the CW still continues to entertain.  I was a little bummed when one of my favorite character was seemingly killed off last week, but we have seen no body, so there is still hope. I understand the desire to keep the show separate from all of the other CW DC Comics series, but I hope that in the third year we will see some kind of crossover.

Would this situation be the Gray Gargoyle's fault?

That's what I was assuming!

But, how did he do it on such a large scale, when he can only petrify through direct contact with his right hand? I'm thinking more like the android known as the Tri-Man. With the absorbed additional powers/abilities of Speed Demon and, perhaps, the Mad Thinker?

I don't think we need to worry too much about Gambi, Ross. He'll be back -- if not tomorrow night, then next week. TV shows don't just kill off regular characters the way Gambi "died" last week: actual character deaths usually happen at the end of an episode, not the beginning, and when they happen at the beginning it's in the season premiere. Plus, as you say, nobody's found the body; and the frequent "structural integrity" reports during the chase suggest that he had a contingency plan.

As for Black Lightning in a future Arrowverse crossover, I think that's being kept as a possibility. Some of the dialogue in Season One suggests that it takes place on Earth-One (other cities have superheroes, metas have existed for a while, people have heard of Vixen). I for one would love to see him standing next to Vibe and/or Killer Frost (one could also throw in Black Siren and Heat Wave), throwing blasts of energy around. Thunder fighting alongside Mister Terrific and/or the Elongated Man would be pretty cool too.

The story behind today's cover is... well, intriguing. Maybe Gray Gargoyle would be initially suspected, but I'm of a mind that some large-scale magic is involved. Or, for an idea out of left field, Rita Repulsa.

I'm with Bob, on this one. If only because Black Lightning and Jolt would definitely give new meaning to the term "Power Rangers." ;-)

P.S.---how about Darth Vader stranded on the Planet of the Apes?

Re: Arrowverse crossovers: There are indications that Thunder's on-and-off girlfriend Grace (Choi?) may be a meta, so we could see a backdoor version of Arsenal's team of Outsiders. A crossover with a supporting character like Roy would be easy to pull off then trying to rearrange the stars already busy schedule.

Maybe one of the Greenlight survivors will turn out to be an African-American version of Warp. Leading to a Sweeps-Weeks crossover by that means!

Cool cover Ross. Now a team up out of left field- Mr. Bones and Ghost Rider.

I'm guessing that the original cover had BL and Halo?

Either that; or Jolt and Night Thrasher.

Believe it or not, the original cover is the left (back cover) side of the wraparound cover of Worlds' Finest #257. Hawkman was where Jolt is, and Ross had to remove the figures of Hawkgirl and Shazam and fill in a lot of windows in the background. Great job!

Thanks, Jay - I loved those Aparo WF wraparound covers!

Good point. In that case, maybe either Loki or Karnilla (the Norn Queen)? Those petrified people just look so "early Thor adventures" to me...
