Queen and the Champions

I remember seeing the artwork on Queen's News of the World album cover and being transfixed by it.  This was in a time before painted comics were a common occurrence, so the image of a giant robot scooping up the band members was one of the coolest scenes that I had ever seen illustrated.  I loved the expression that artist Frank Kelly Freas gave the robot, making him look more curious than menacing, which made him seem all the more creepy to me.

Brilliant!

Great idea. You'll have to do more album/comic mashups.

Freddie Mercury would clearly have powers from Mercury - the planet AND the god.

Family guy did a good episode about Stewie being scared of the robot.

Nice use of one of their album covers, Ross! Queen, I mean. Not the Champions (lol). Artistically, it sort of reminds me of a metallic version of one of the "Stone Men From Saturn." This, in turn, prompts me to ask:

Any chance of of a team-up between Spidey and the music group Styx?*

*You could even call it..."Revenge Of The Hypno-Hustler."

QUEEN and The CHAMPIONS are great. How about The DEMON (Gene Simmons of KISS) meets The DEMON (Etrigan)?
Rock and roll hell!

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band meets Sgt. Snorkel and Beetle Bailey.... (Think about it....)

For that matter how about a meeting between Sgt. Rock, Sgt. Fury, Sgt Snorkel and The Sarge from Sad Sack?

Anonymous: the Fourth Doctor Who meets The Who and/or The the Guess Who.

The Kinks get exposed to X-Kryptonite from the pre-Crisis DCU, and then they don't need to wish any more, they really CAN fly like Superman!

Interesting how music albums spawned so many potential crossovers.

Blondie meets Blondie?

Prince Valiant meets Prince?

Elvis Costello meets Bud & Lou?

I like the Queen and the Champions crossover, but not too crazy over the execution. The Champs are just passing by. Oddly enough, only the Fantastic Four seemed to manage sitting in their Fantasticar as an appearance.

Passing by? They are saving them from certain death by catching them in their flying car!

Regarding the robot's "curious" expression: According to Wikipedia, the album cover was based on a similar painting that Freas did for Astounding Science Fiction Magazine. The original version had the caption; "Please... fix it, Daddy?"
