Batman and The Super-Skrull

It was a fun moment at the end of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer when Johnny Storm temporarily gained the powers of the entire team. It was clearly a nod to one of the Fantastic Four's coolest villains, the Super Skrull.  That was a nice tease but what I as a fan really would have preferred was a full out adventure with the actual Super Skrull.  I had the same feeling when watching Ang Lee's Hulk - Lee made the strange decision to combine the Hulk's abusive father with classic villains Zzzax and The Absorbing Man.  I would have much rather had a solo appearance by one of those villains rather than the odd mashup we got.  There's still hope for future movies, though.  With a FF film reboot on the horizon as well as rumored Skrull involvement in the Avengers film, maybe there's a chance we'll finally see the Super Skrull on the big screen one day.

Super-Skrull is one of my all-time favorite villains, and is often sorely underused. (I mean, he can punch you with a flaming fist from 50 yards away and hit with the Thing's strength, while being invisible so you can't hit back.... but he still gets defeated by Spiderman, solo? Gimme a break!) AND he has all the shapeshifting power of a true Skrull, which is pretty potent in itself. AND he has hynotic eyes, at least in his early appearances, though that power seems to have been dropped, and he somehow gained Sue's force field power, despite her not having it when he was created... oh well. (It's amazing how many new "untold tales" or "year one" type stories set early in the FF's career show Sue using her force field when she didn't have it yet...)

I can't wait to see a hit Hulk movie. The reboot was great but it happened so soon after that flop of a movie that people stayed away thinking it was a sequel to the first film and movie audiences didn't like that one.

Dave sez,

That's a very cool cover!
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I think it is a mistake to have Skrulls in an Avengers movie. The Avengers may have had encounters with Skrulls, but when I think of the Fantastic Four, I think of Namor, Dr. Doom, Galactus and The Silver Surfer - and Skrulls. It would be a shame not to see an FF reboot that would lead to the Skrulls...

Unless of course Marvel is trying to keep the Skrulls licensed apart from the FF for a Runaways film franchise...

If Skrulls are in the Avengers film, it should be the team caught between the Skrulls and the Kree...
