The Thing and Static
I had only read a few Static comics when I became a real fan by watching his self-titled animated series. That was very well done and I was glad to see them tie it into the DCU animated shows, featuring crossovers with Batman and the Justice League. I'm sure that Static creator and comics and animation writer Dwayne McDuffie had a lot to do with that. I was very saddened to hear of McDuffie's sudden passing recently. He was a great writer and instrumental in getting a lot of comic characters and story lines into other media. He had created quite a legacy with all the stories he has penned and his creations with Milestone, so I am sure his presence will be felt in comics for a long time to come.

Dave sez,
Very cool cover.
I didn't follow the Milestone inclusion into the DC Universe...It just seemed like a lot of "house-cleaning" along with Kirby's Fourth World characters.
I lost interest in DC a little when they brought back the Multiverse and apparently put Kyle Rayner on still another Earth. Hu-bu-wha?
Didn't I see a Brave and the Bold teaming Static with Black Lightning not too long ago? Is Static Black Lightning's "sidekick" or "protege" now? He's a Teen Titan, too isn't he?
There was a three-part Brave and the Bold Milestone arc, the others featuring Xombi and the Spectre, and Hardware and... Steel? Like the other B&B stories, they were just team-ups; Static is his own man, and has a new series coming up.
