Zatanna and Brother Voodoo

Zatanna has has solo movies and appearances in team movies announced and cancelled a few times in the past decade.  Brother Voodoo was teased in the MCU, but we have yet to see him as well.  Let's hope the respective studios they belong to can finally find a way to bring these magical heroes to live action.

I love this outfit of Z's the best. I wish she kept it on a permanent basis. I thought the high heels of her other two pre-Crisis outfits were dumb to try to walk/run around in plus the fishnets would get constant laughs if she was going to be doing martial arts, athletic maneuvers or just showing up at certain functions (like a daycare center lol).

I like how her hair is pulled back in a ponytail to help her see on windy days or just to keep it out of her eyelines in general. The cape & colors make me think she is topnotch magic material instead of a weird red bug in her hair or a top hat and wand that were just unnecessary props that got in the way.

to love action. ...or to live action?

Considering she was LIVE in Smallville more than once, she has had a chance to show her worth. Since she is a stage person, working with "image" is part of her repertoire
and she has no problem with misdirection. Only thing i haven't been thrilled with is trying to make her an "older teenager" in her looks.

Zatanna/Satana (Hellstrom) team-up? Or battle? Just an idea. ;-)

@Anon537: I'm a traditionalist. The top hat/tux/fishnets is suitably misdirecting. It makes her enemies underestimate her, thinking her no brighter than her cousin's lovely assistant, Bunny!

@Ross: good background research, as usual! If I recall correctly, the antagonist's name was Moon Dog. A renegade houngan (or is it bokor?*) that Brother Voodoo was originally aided by Spidey in bringing down.

*Marvel used those two terms rather interchangeably back in the Seventies.

P.S. @ Bob Greenwade: looks like Ross fooled us both. Not so much as even the Gray Ghost vs. the Grey Gargoyle on a foggy day!

Personally I like any costume with a cleavage window. Maybe that could be a new team. Power Girl, Zatanna, Invisible Woman, & Emma Frost are all candidates. Perhaps Peekaboo Patrol?

@ my namesake: We'd only see three out of those four. Guess which of them would be too modest to show off her upper torso attributes to a bunch of male sexists not-her-husband?

Carycomic said...

@ both Anons: I believe Sue only "showed of her upper torso attrributes" during the story arc where she had been brainwashed by Psycho-Man into calling herself "Malice" (and acting like the personification thereof). The only way she might go back to being Malice--at least in the canonical comic--is if she were telepathically usurped by the disembodied Marauder of the same alias.

@Anon@8:31: In the past, I've suggested a meeting of Power girl, Black Cat, Lady Tsunade (Naruto), and Rangiku Matsumoto (Bleach) as women who not only show lots of cleavage, but have lots of cleavage to show.

(Those women -- possibly except Felicia, though I'm making no bets -- also have something really big right behind the cleavage, which is the real reason why I like them.)

@Cary: Around these parts, the forecast is for sunny and warm, so the appropriate team-up would be more like Sun Boy and Sunspot. (Those two are already on a team together here, though.)

@Carycomic What cousin? Zatanna has a cousin?

Carycomic said...

@Anon1219: yep! Young Zach Zatara.

@Bob G: unfortunately, the forecast for NW Connecticut, all the rest of post-Easter Week is rain-and-snow-mix. :-(

@Mr. Greenwade: in that case, you'd probably LOVE Mai Shiranui! ;-D

Some fans suggested that the 'weird red bug' in question was actually a mind-controlling alien... but I rather liked Blue Devil's comment when he first met Zee, which was something like
"You know, not many girls can get away with wearing a red bug in their hair, but on you it looks good."

Call them 'the Double-D Team'?

@Anon@2:41: If nothing else, she'd fit in with the proposed group.

@Bob & Anon640: How about the Crime Bustiers?

Carycomic said...

I'll have to second Anon1038's motion.

People might start asking if Daredevil was a member of that team.

Bob Greenwade said...

Let's not forget that Elvira (Mistress of the Dark) would be a part of this group too.

Detective Tobor said...

Guys, Wonder Woman was in that group till she was "modernized. However, considering the powers and capabilities of said females be careful they don't call themselves by the IRONIC term " CHESTCUTTERS". As,they could cut thru the blowhards like so much broken glass and bones. They use it for their crimefighting not their ego building.

/\ ^-^ /\

Yeah, but with me, if I were a super-villain? All Zatanna would have to do is flash those fish-netted legs and she wouldn't even have to speak backwards to make me surrender!

"That's my story and I'm sticking to it."

P.S.---sure enough, Bob. We finally got that sleety storm front. Fortunately, most of it has already melted! But, talk about torrential...?
