Spider-Man goes with just about anyone, and I like it when he meets other heroes close to his age. I think he and Ray Terrill would get along for the most part - unless a situation like the one depicted above were to arise.

Oh, dear! I wonder who Gobby colluded with, now. Dr. Arthur Light, perhaps?
The Ray, after an eclipse? A streak of brilliance to be sure! And with Spidey...hmmmm.
Suppose,while Spidey's shooting his webs, the Ray puts some of his energies into the webbings. Would that lighten things up? I hope the Ray is able to really put some shocks into some 'gifts' for Green Goblin and completely short him out for a long time!!
Ray sure is ticked-off... and I think Norman's in big trouble.
With Peter teaming up here with a hero "close to his age," how about going to the other end of things -- heroes in their twilight years? For example, has he ever teamed up with Jay Garrick?

Now this is cool! Not sure what was shining on Spidey originally, but it goes perfectly with the Ray here! Nicely done, man!
@Carycomic & Anon550: how about Dr. Arthur Light vs. Dr. Light from the Megaman games?
The final comment by Anonymous made me reflect on how many heroes (and villains) are named Arthur. Asides from King Arthur Pendragon, there is Arthur Curry, and Arthur from the Tick. On the villain side, there is Arthur Brown (the Cluemaster) and Dr. Arthur Light. And I'm sure I've missed many. Plus, there is always that real-world ophthalmologist and writer, Dr. Arthur Conan Doyle!

I'm not sure offhand whether Spidey has teamed up with any such 'twilighters' in STF, but in Marvel -- even leaving aside the question of how old (or replaced?) certain senior agents of SHIELD are -- he teamed up at least once with then-retired Dominic Fortune.
H'mm, following this same basic concept and even keeping a spider-related aspect, think that a pair of team-ups between Dominic Fortune and DC's Tarantula (Jonathan Law) -- one back in the Golden Age, and one decades later, possibly against the same (Nazi-connected?) villains both times -- could work well.
Or, failing that, how about Dominic Fortune meets Moro "The Scorpion" Frost from mid-1970's Atlas Comics?
I like the lighting, too.
