I quite liked Thor: Ragnarok, and felt that it's injection of color and humor into the franchise struck a nice balance in that film. Unfortunately, Director Taika Waititi was not able to balance out his follow up, Thor: Love and Thunder quite as well in my opinion. The humor was far too broad this time around, with Thor going from a character with some funny traits to a complete buffoon. Natalie Portman is a talented actress, but her attempts at comedy fell flat for me, and clashed with her terminal cancer sub-plot. It's not a terrible movie, and there are some fun action sequences and a great mid-credits scene - but it felt like it could have used one more pass in the editing stage before sending it to theaters.

Yeah, it seems like the basic portrayal of Thor is buffoonery or as a big dope. It would be nice to see him come across as smart as Stark, Rogers or Banner... Is it me or is he smarter in the comics?
Yes, he's smarter in the comics, although compared with his colleagues, he not known for his intellectual achievements. What he is known for is his passion, his relentlessness, his loyalty to comrades, and his wish that his comrades were as loyal to each other. He pushes them to be the best mortals they can be. He also likes to party. With mead. And maidens.

Yeah! Like editing out all of Thor's so-called "pep" talks. Plus the needless screaming goats ; and the even more unnecessary cameo by the GotG.
I hope Loki enjoys his new itty-bitty living space. LOL!
I mostly agree with your assessment of the movie, Ross, though not quite so strongly as you express it here.
@Anon@7:44: The cameo was supposed to be a little more meaningful when GotG3 was coming out before L&T, just as Spider-Man: No Way Home was originally supposed to feature America Chavez when that movie was supposed to follow Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

@Bob Greenwade: that's why I'm one of those who wisely disregard pre-production propaganda. Just wait for the actual trailers and, even then, don't expect all of them to make the final cut before national release.
I hated how wasted Christian Bale was in that movie. Talented actor, interesting character, barely used.

Love seeing the HB crowd.They deserved better than just a year or two of usage. Since we don't know Shazzan's background or origin, we don't know how powerful he really is.

In the conics THor is sometimes able to outsmart, rather than just out-mscle, Loki. In the actual mythology, though, there probably IS enough material to support a rather less intelligent depiction. After all, he personifies the storm, and the storm is rarely noted for its subtlety...
Shazzan is an excellent choice! Maybe he can meet the wizard Shazam when this situation gets complicated.
