Black Adam had a decent opening but did not break any records (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever just may, though), so Dwayne Johnson's hope to reshape the hierarchy of the DC Universe has probably hit a snag. Now it's been reported that James Gunn and Peter Safran have been put in charge of DC Films, and will be shepherding all Movie, TV and animation projects for at least the next four years. I'd say everything is truly up in the air again until we hear some new announcements.
Thank you to Marc Tyler Nobleman, Comics Historian and Patron of this blog, for suggesting this pairing!

Well, as lobby card sims go, I was hoping for "Black Adam vs. The Sub-mariner" starring DJ and Tenoch Huerta.* But, I suppose half a wish granted is better than none. So, thank you, Ross. And your noble patron, as well. ;-)
*A suggestion I made elsewhere on this blog.
Good choice of poses, Ross. And it's nice to see something pointed at them in this perspective besides guns....
Putting James Gunn in charge of DC's projects has potential. The only downside would be that he wouldn't be able to do any Marvel projects, but since he's completing his round with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the loss is mainly hypothetical. On the whole, I'd rather give Bruce Timm the job, but let's see (assuming the reports are true) what James can do.
PS: How many women are there in comics with famous nieces and nephews? May Parker, Petunia Grimm, Harriet Cooper... they could band together to form "The Auntie Heroines!" #BadPunNoCookie
oh look, it's the Royal Batman and Superman team.
@Bob G: isn't Petunia Grimm more of a step-aunt?
@Anonymous: that she is.
@Ross: You could also entitle that tussle "Rocking The Boat!"
@Cary: I think ross already used that one @ STF #534.
P.S.---given this morning's cover simulation, will your Sunday posting constitute the third part of a Shazam-oriented trilogy?
2nd postscript: the above question is, of course, being asked of Ross.
3rd postscript: I finally got to see "Black Adam" at my local multiplex. Dwayne Johnson was a little bit better in the title role than I expected. And Pierce Brosnan did an _excellent_ job as Dr. Fate! But, the slightly lesser known actors portraying Hawkman, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher (or should I say "Adam Smasher"?) were treated more like comedy relief.
And comedic they weren't.
In short? I give it five stars out of ten. It wasn't as good as "Justice League." But, it was indisputably superior to "Birds of Prey" and "Suicide Squad 2."
@Anon850: well, at least with BLACK ADAM, we get the cinematic debut of Intergang. Which gives me a slight increase in hope that we may yet see the introduction of other New Gods (besides Steppenwolf) from Jack Kirby's Fourth World.
