Since Iron Fist's eponymous power is (arguably) magical, this would make for a rather epic battle, though if he's acting out of jealousy he's likely to get his butt handed to him on a platter. That said, that motivation is merely the most common in fiction; this being a superhero story, there's probably some outside force in play that actively threatens Luke's safety if he and Kara stay together -- which brings in another old superhero trope, where the heroes fight at first and then team up to take down the real threat.
Incredibly, after all these years, it's taken until now for me to notice Luke's footwear, and its resemblance to Dr. Mid-Nite's. That would be a downright silly basis for a team-up -- and a downright ridiculous basis for a broader team... which, in my personal opinion, is not a valid reason to not do it! ("Enter... The Pirate Boot Patrol!")
If I'm not mistaken, Captain America also wears pirate boots--and unlike Power Man, Cap was active in WW2, which was also Dr. Mid-Nite's heyday.
Jealousy, Bob, but who's he really jealous of? Luke must know his old partner best...and he's scuttling off somewhere.
Maybe to find Mr Iron Fist a date of his own.
Maybe he'll be back in a follow up with a super powered lady for him...
Supergirl would be my bet.
@Davejonz: Your comment made me think of several reasons that Danny would need a super powered lady. Unfortunately, I can't relate any of them in a family-oriented blog.
Maybe the jealousy is a cover up for his real feelings....he feels frustrated and guilty that his best bud’s girl’s buxomness makes him so ..... Randy.

Actually, Dave, I was thinking of Danny being jealous of Luke's time, and his friendship with him... though Luke scuttling off to find him his own girlfriend might be a potential idea, and having the two Kara Zor-Els double-dating this pair would make for an interesting cover.
I'm with Bob. There'd probably be some other motivation in a real-world version of this story. Like IF being touched by the Corruptor or mind-controlled by the Psycho Pirate.
ok, but for splitting the diff, Psycho Pirate has put one love "spell" on Luke and a possession "spell" on Kara to keep him her's. Danny has to break those spells.

In other words, Luke thinks he's a ring-finger switcher like Alan Scott?
