The Crime Syndicate Vs. Spider-Man

Long time readers of this blog know that Spider-Man was originally rejected for membership in the JLA, until he was finally invited in last Christmas.  Of course, membership can have it's drawbacks, such as gaining a whole new set of enemies.

The Crime Syndicate is a fun group to read about.  I can tell that writers really enjoy the concept of an evil JLA because their appearances seldom seem to disappoint.

The Crime Syndicate issues of Convergence were some of the few I actually enjoyed. I've loved that concept since the first time I saw them in Crisis on Infinite Earths. Even though they only got a few pages there.

I like the whole idea of a "Bizarro" reverse universe. Heroes and villains are reversed. Very cool. With the introduction of the Red Lanterns, wouldn't Power Ring be one of those...?

I'd think that the Red Lanterns would also be reversed.

This makes me want to see a bit of Earth Three's (or Earth-3's) hero community, like Alex Luthor or the Jokester. Maybe if you can find one of the heroic versions of Doctor Octopus that the Exiles have run into?

I'm just laughing at the concept Chris proposes. What is the opposite of rage? Maybe their rings work when they are completely chill, like super mellow and relaxed.

You know something? I could see this as being the conclusion of an actual two-parter. The ring-slinger and the web-slinger are teaming up against the notorious Spider Guild, for some reason, when something happens to interdimensionally separate them! Like, for instance, a Qwardian mercenary throwing a teleportational thunderbolt.

Gardner winds up on a Marvel Earth where the Avengers are mind-controlled by Thanos (who makes them think just the opposite). While Spidey has to fend off the CSA of Earth Three, who are miffed at the JLA simply vanishing into thin air just as the latter were on the verge of being defeated!

In short, sir: you are currently on the biggest roll to date. :-)

In the 3rd Grade, we were taken on a "field trip" to the public library to get our library cards, and encourage reading. I was already a pretty voracious comics reader by this point. The book I took out? A tome called "All in Color for a Dime" which was a history of comic books from the Golden Age through the 60s. Now I was aware of and already a fan of the Earth 2 concept and the JSA, and this book expanded upon that for me. But there was a full page spread in the book from JLA 29, featuring the super beings from Earth-3 - the Crime Syndicate! I was unfamiliar with these characters, and needed to track these issues down. They wouldn't appear again until the late 70s, and not with the full roster until the JLA-JSA-All Star Squadron crossover in the early 80s. So I have always been intrigued and fascinated with Earth-3!

Russ, here's hoping you still do the Crime Syndicate's invasion of another parallel Earth featuring somewhat familiar, yet different characters that are known as the Squadron Supreme!

This isn't bad! Any chance of Spidey meets X-O Manowar?

P.S.---Or the Avengers (Silver Age version) meeting the Avengers (Patrick Steed and Mrs. Peel)?

My dream JLA origin movie is the team forming and learning to work together to help Lex Luthor rescue Earth 3 (or whichever number!) from the Crime Syndicate.

Ross man, this one got me right in the feels. I'm huge CSA fan, so this one, with the Alan Davis art, attacking Spidey? Awesome beyond words sir. Thanks;)

The Crime Syndicate is one of my all time favorite comic concepts as well. I really enjoyed Forever Evil, although I am disappointed at how quickly Geoff Johns killed off Power Ring, Johnny Quick, Atomica and Deathstorm. Not to mention the fact that he also destroyed Earth-3 right off the bat. Their first appearance in the Nu52 and most of them are already dead. Sigh.

By the way, I don't know if you have done this idea yet, but The Crime Syndicate vs The Squadron Sinister is a MUST, ha. Squadron Sinister even has their own book right now as part of Secret Wars, with great art by ex-DC artist Carlos Pacheco.
