The Phantom and The Phantom Stranger

I'm surprised that we haven't seen a live action Phantom Stranger yet.  We didn't even get an animated version until the sadly missed Batman: The Brave and the Bold featured him in the fan-favorite episode, "Chill of the Night".  Still, he seems like an easy character to translate to live action, but where would we see him first?  Arrow has plenty of guest stars from the DCU, but The Phantom Stranger doesn't really travel in the same circles as Oliver Queen.  Maybe he will show up in the upcoming Constantine series.  There was Rumblings of a Deadman series a while back, that could be a good option as well.  And of course, there's the Guillermo Del Toro-led Dark Universe movie featuring the mystcial characters of the DCU... but with Superman/Batman delayed a year who knows how long it will be for a film like that to be put on the front burner? So many possibilities, hopefully one will work out.

I'm surprised that you hadn't done this team-up yet! This is so cool!

I think all of us fans are realizing that Marvel's film universe blueprint is a much better one that DC's. DC is still trying to bring single characters and properties to live action, rather than the whole stable. That's why doing a Justice League film and then breakout single character films makes no sense. It's backward of what works.

I really could have seen The Phantom Stranger on Smallville. The Phantom Stranger is such a Twilight Zone-like figure. Like The Watcher. I believe that The Phantom Stranger visited Smallville and gave Jonathan Kent a glimpse of what Clark would one day become. To show him he was doing the right thing.

Would have loved to see this as an all-Aparo cover. Maybe they can team up again soon...

@AirDave

You're implying that DC/WB HAD a plan. Honestly, I think they were caught flatfooted and are now taking the "group then individuals" approach to make it seem like they're not copying Marvel. Honestly, I think most of the upper brass is flailing around, wringing their hands, not knowing what to do with these properties. oy...

@Rob
LOVE this cover. Another great pairing I'm surprised hasn't been tried.

I hope, one day, to see a lost issue featuring PS revealing himself as the son of Batman and Zatanna from an alternate future!
