The Thing and James Bond

I was happy to read that a third James Bond film featuring Daniel Craig has overcome studio and budgetary hurdles and is now going into production. I thought that the franchise had lost its way a bit and was glad for the back to basics approach they took to the character when they decided to go back to the beginning with Casino Royale. I'm glad they held onto Judi Dench as M, though - she is great in the role. As much as I like the new films, Craig is still only my second favorite Bond. Sean Connery has a cool ease that will be very hard to replace.

Dave sez,

I think Sean Connery has to be every one's first choice as favorite Bond. Then we all get to pick our own favorite 2nd. I wish that Pierce Brosnan had gotten to do one more Bond film before he was done. I thought the beginning of Die Another Day and the concept of the story was unique and original, though the ending was a little...oh, hell c'mon who are we kidding - it's James Bond, fer cryin' out loud! It's not supposed to make sense! It's a MOVIE! Like comics are supposed to be any more realistic!

I have to permanently disagree with you, re: the first two Daniel Craig efforts. Particularly CASINO ROYALE! Totally needless departure from past continuity.

Totally needless departure from past continuity? A much-needed one, since it was getting silly with Die Another Day and needed a reboot.
