Captain Hero Vs. Condiment King

For some reason, I have had multiple requests for this one-shot joke villain from Batman: The Animated Series to appear.  Well - here you go! There was one hero that I instantly thought of for him to face off against.

Uh-oh! Looks like Captain Hero is in a real pickle.

But, seriously, Ross; this is great! Makes me hope that, one day, we can get to see Too Much Coffee Man being chased by the caffeine-loving superheroines from DC Earth 43.*

*That's the one where the vampirized JLA were magically turned into literal caffeine fiends.

Ross; I knew you'd ketchup to this pairing eventually! Nice to see that you've finally mustard your talent to do it!

(Grabs a Belvita breakfast cookie on the way out)

Lettuce be honest here: I actually had hoped to see CK up against Daredevil in the latter's "ketchup and mustard" costume. But this match-up does cut the mustard, as an A-1 effort.

That "some reason" for Condiment King being requested so much is probably the same reason that he's persisted in Batman lore. Two other versions of the character have actually appeared in the comics' main continuity, and his name's been dropped in at least a couple of the DC animated shows; there's even been at least one Condiment King cosplayer. The absolute absurdity of the character makes him just plain fun.

The same holds true for the Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight; that character's name, his classic lines ("Surf's up, Space Ponies! I'm making gravy without the lumps!"), and sheer insanity make him loads of fun. I cosplayed him at Washington State Summer Con this past Saturday, and got a surprising amount of recognition and appreciation.

This definitely NOT Burger King! But I know Jughead is going to have it his way.
I'm going through my fridge right now to come up with a good pun, but I'd only make it Worcestershire.

No cookie, I know.

As expected, my fellow punsters have come up with some real whoppers.

@Anon1147: Oh, Gouda Grief! Such cheesy quips.

That's true Carycomic, but a seasoned pro might not do much butter. Salad is best served cold, but CK has the worst dressing for it. Doesn't even have a tomato to call his own.
Captain Hero is on a role. Lettuce hope that he doesn't underestimate CK...he could wind up with a bad stomach that could take days to recover from. I'm waiting for his summer trip to Hawaii so that he can become a Hawaiian King.. Role he was born to.

When I was in So Cal, I thought I knew all the Ins-N-Outs of the burger biz. But this cover surprised me like a total Jack-in-the-Box. Even though Captain Hero will grill the Condiment King to get at the real meat of the situation, I have to admit, you guys have really steaked out your territory.

Captain Hero can *lick* this guy easily.
For a real challenge, I can imagine Captain Hero versus Goku in a pie-eating contest.

Welcome back, Det. Tobor! I was beginning to think you'd gone on summer vacation. Perhaps to the Sandwich Islands.

"Holy Hamburger stands, Batman! It's Condiment King!"

"Yes, Robin... That Diabolical FIEND! But don't fret, old chum! Captain Hero is the one hero with the guts to stand up to ANYTHING Condiment King can Dish out!"

"You're right, Batman! A grave situation like this is just Gravy for Captain Hero!"

"Too true, Robin! Captain Hero can be counted on to find his way out of any Jam."

***

"Revenge is a dish best served cold, Captain Hero!"

"And Justice is served Fresh!"

"To think my fellow villains keep saying that I can't cut the mustard!"

"You CAN'T! You spoon it!"

Thank you, Ross. These last two days have given your readers much food for thought.

With their dress style Captain Hero and Batgirl could have a very interesting meet. I'm glad that Condiment King is spread so thin on these covers. Then again you need to have a wry sense of humor to use him at all.

You mean "rye" sense of humor. ;-)

I expect no bread for that joke. Not even one pumper-nickel!

Mayo the fork beef with you.

@Ken Roskos: Well-done! :-)

Glazed or smoked?

Quoth the Riddler: "What do you call the Minotaur of Crete in Japanese?"

Condiment King's answer: "A bull oni!"

So ends another "meat-and-greet."
