The Defenders seemed to spend as much time or more battling demons and supernatural threats as they did traditional super-villains. It might be interesting to see how they would fare against the denizens of DC's underworld.

Southern fried Souls..a sure fire hit at the next underworld picnic. Would Gargoyle be coming for the assist? Or would Madam Webb save the day??
Great Cover - they need Pip the Troll and Warlock to come and save the Day !
those demons are difficult but Neron is another league completely…
WOW!
Nuff said.
@Det. Tobor: I would rather see Galactus vs. Patrick Starro...with Batman and Spongebob stuck in the middle.
It stands to reason that the Defenders would fight supernatural threats, since they're brought together by Dr. Strange.
And I don't think I'm alone in thinking that the next Doctor Strange film should feature the Defenders. I'm sure Clea will be a part of it, but if Mark Ruffalo and Tessa Thompson are available then it shouldn't take much to cast another member or two, such as Gargoyle.
Yep, the original Defenders were "Dr. Strange needs additional muscle for this one." I discovered the team with Defenders 100, in which Satan, Thog, and Mephisto take over the Earth. Fighting the demons of other comics companies is barely out of canon. :)
In elementary school in the mid 1980s I mainly brought DC Comics, with the exception of THE DEFENDERS, which was the only Marvel comic I tried to buy regularly. It had superheroes stories but with very creepy undertones similar to Batman, Swamp Thing, Phantom Stranger!
@Worldmusic, Semicognito, and Bob: if I remember correctly, the Defenders were originally brought together by an early 1970's story arc involving Dr. Strange trying to keep Earth from being taken over by the Undying Ones. With part one introducing Doc's scary mask; part two featuring his guest-appearance in Namor's mag (versus something that resembled a cross between Bi-beast and the Owl); and part three featuring another guest shot in the Hulk's mag (alongside pre-Valkyrie Barbara Norris and the original Night-Crawler)!
P.S.---now, if only we could get a sequel where the Defenders get to me the Big Red Guy from BPDR.
It just occurred to me: it's good that you didn't cite the DC side as "Neron and the Demons Three"; it would've sounded like a punk-rock band.
But the reason I came back: I think it'd be interesting to see the Warriors Three vs the Demons Three.
@Bob: both trios could battle it out at one of those Death Valley cooncerts. That way, Ross could entitle it...
"Ragnar-Rock!"
Dear Bob: please lend me a day-old cookie that I can hit Anon823 upside his head with!
Actually, I was thinking that "Ragna-Rock" would be a decent title for a team-up between Thor and KISS.
@Bob: Preferably teaming up to take down Dethlok (from "Metalocalypse").
I have to wonder, though, if this was meant to be a sequel to STF #4312.
DC's Lord Satanis & Syrene would also make a great villain couple for the Defenders to go up against (With Dr. Strange & Clea used in the story of course).
Hot Stuff The Little Devil would also make an offbeat team-up sometime with the Valkyrie, Gargoyle, Cloud, Iceman version of the team.
Bill W. "Elementals' would be a great 1 on 1 team battle royal for the Defenders as well = Namor vs Fathom, Son Of Satan vs Morningstar, Nighthawk vs Vortex & the Hulk vs Monolith.
The Defenders & The PowerPuff Girls vs Them (the red devil foe of theirs).
I thought it was an allusion to their giant aunts. ;-)
^ He could do Them! from the powerless Wonder Woman era (the lesbian trio of Moose Mama, Pinto & Top Hat) vs. Them! (those big giant ants from the golden age monster films). I wonder which side would win? The villainess WW trio wasn't very powerful to begin with. I don't recall any lesbian themed covers/team ups on here yet & with over 4300 results there should be at least 50 by now...
