how many times has Nabu tried to take control of the Good Doctor,
still Dr. X ( how does he still gets called Professor when he doesn’t have a tenure given by an academic institution his doctorate doesn’t give that qualification running your own school doesn’t count ) maybe able to Help… and then could Doctor Fate still remember how to summon the spells…
Kent Nelson needs Xavier's help to keep Nabu from completely usurping his corporeal body? A strange fate, indeed!
I figure, the patent's expired and anyone could build one of those things if they're willing to spend $750,000 on it.

Forge designed and built the wheelchair so it will be up to him, rather than Xavier, to share the technology.
Ahh, at first, I thought Xavier was trying to take on Nabu directly. (That would be a messy battle, for Charles.) But in trying to protect, or reinforce Kent Nelson's psyche, I think I see where "the cure could be worse than the disease". Hmm...
And while the term "Professor X" could be just a nom de guerre, it could also still be an honorary title, given Xavier's research in mutants, along with his work with other big universities, and the government.
The origin of the hoverchair was always sort of a mystery to me. Xavier was wise to have developed his own independent high-tech resources, rather than rely on Tony Stark, Reed Richards, or S.H.I.E.L.D. Which is good. Otherwise, outsourcing would have been too much of a security risk, and too much of a plot convenience to boot.

I immediately thought of Dr. Strangefate from the Amalgam days who was actually Charles Xavier beneath the helmet of Nabu.
A floating chair could do wonders if it doesn't run out of power or parts. Could it be souped up for races and shop lifting? Would it go over snow and large bodies of water?

When did Forge become the creator of the chair? The chair was always Shiar technology, IIRC.

@Ken and Reg: I always thought it was inspired by/copied from Metron's Mobius Chair.
Perhaps we may learn that Professor X's chair is actually a Decepticon infiltrator XD
