Presenting Part One of a Two-Part Epic! It looks like The Black Knight has traveled a long way to find one specific Legionnaire. But which one of the future heroes depicted on this cover is he hoping to recruit? Make sure you come back tomorrow for the thrilling conclusion!

I don't care which one it is. I didn't realize until now how much i really miss this team. It's not Dave Cockrum art, but it's still good.
So many artists died so young.
Hmmm! My first impulse would be to shout: "Take Princess Projectra!"
After all, her home world--the planet Orando--is supposed to be a Tolkienesque culture. That is; a medieval-looking magocracy. But, of course, the princess isn't even in your cover-sim! Not unless she's projected an illusion of invisibility.
That being said, I hope the Teen of Steel volunteers. If only as a tie-in to the Silver Age classic SUPERBOY v.1/#103!
as they were always searching for the Holy Grail, i would expect it to be Dawnstar…
Great Cover !
I say that it'll be Colossal Boy. Because the Black Knight is going to rescue the Seven Shrinkies of Victory from Snow White's evil stepmother (see STF #1852 @ 5/9/2017). And Colossal Boy growing giant-size while holding them, jewelry box prison and all, would re-enlarge them in proportion!
"That's my theory and I'm stickin' to it!"
My first thought is the same as Simon's, though there would be a certain appeal to seeing Timber Wolf wading through Arthur's enemies.
Speaking of TW, I wondered whether he'd ever encountered Wolverine, and sure enough the two met way, way back in #75. Should you ever have occasion to revisit that pairing, though, I'd like to see Mr. Howlett turn out to be Mr. Londo's ancestor.
I'll go with one of the more forgotten members of the original Legion: Sun Boy. Merlin needs him to counteract some of that Ice Magic Morganna was so fond of.
White Witch would make sense to me, but I'm not sure she's joined the team by when this cover capture originates.
I'm betting on Shadow Lass. He needs Tasmia's power to help him handle the darkness.
Star Boy, he never gets picked. Good show.
The two most obvious Legionnaires for an adventure in a medieval realm where magic is real (Princess Projectra and the White Witch) are not found on the cover, so Ida Know.
I'm always happy to see the Legion, though. ^_^
@HHH: IIRC, in one adventure in the early 1980s against Mordru, Star Boy saved the day, by using his heavy-making power to make Mordru's castle fall down around him and bury him.
For any readers not familiar with Mordru: being buried, while it does not kill him, causes him to go into a coma-like state.
I thought it was neat that Mordru's only weakness was psychological; he is claustrophobic. (I use the past tense because I have no idea how, or if, DC has revised him.)
@KC: ☺ thanks for that. ☺
Bouncing Boy, obv. King Arthur needs his help to trace a perfect circle for the construction of the Round Table.
But after that, what if this original Black Knight has history with Jason Blood going back to the Round Table days? Maybe he'll be drawn back to 21st century DC continuity and have to tangle with Etrigan.
Or mistake Green Arrow for Robin Hood!
I say Dawnstar...simply for the synchronicity of her winged form almost being identical to the red flying horse symbol on BK's shield!
@Alec: knowing Ross, he probably did this two-parter as an explanation for Mephisto capturing Etrigan in STF #3944. The former made a deal with Morgan LeFay!
Hey, Ross, some of those Legionnaires are drawn by Jim Starlin, right?
@my namesake: I believe they are. Which inspires me...
@Ross: how about a team-up between Starlin's Dreadstar, Grell's Star-slayer and Davis and Moore's Captain-UK? If nothing else, you could establish a genealogical relationship between Torin Mac Quillon and Linda McQuillan!---Carycomic
Off topic, their ship looks like the Enterprise and a Klingon warship had a baby. That's if the Jupiter II was also an ancestor.
I always thought the Jupiter-2 was the ancestor of the C-57-D.
---Carycomic ;-)
You know; similar to the C-57-D being the ancestor of every starship in the UFP's Star Fleet?
Ah, well said Carycomic. 🛸
