X-Factor Vs. Solomon Grundy

I remember thinking the premise to X-Factor was a little odd.  The original X-Men disguised themselves as mutant hunters in order to secretly help mutants, it didn't make a lot of sense to me.  They didn't stick with that set up for too long, fortunately.

Glad to use a Solomon Grundy image here by the very talented Scott Kolins here.  I was lucky enough to pick up a couple of original pages by him (Flash #200 inked by Doug Hazlewood and Thing: Freakshow inked by Andy Lanning):

Soloman G has gone up against the X-Men three times, Ben Grimm, & the Hulk. Is Spidy next?
Nice collection of art. Flash #200? Nice days to collect in.

Request - Q.L.'s Sam into the flying G.A.H.'s Ralph. Talk about "no net".

What do you want to bet that Sol is being mind-controlled by the Shadow King? Perhaps via Mandrill and one Felicity "Lullaby" Cross.

"G.A.H."?

The producers at Stargirl have Grundy on an interesting character arc that I don't think lines up with anything seen in the comics... and one that I rather like.

Funny enough, the original X-Factor concept is my FAVORITE phase of the team! And I just can't get into the Peter David stuff. But different strokes and all that!

@Bigby and Tobor: disney's I-Man might be a more fitting host body. ;-)

@anon 9:30, not I-man. Tis the strange situation that makes the episode. Imagine Ralph has the super jammies on and is flying when he gets replaced by Quantum Leap's Sam Beckett. Sam won't have any idea of anything in this case.

OT Special Request: I'd like to see Amphibian (of the Squadron Supreme) featured a bit on here. Maybe there can be a team with him, Namor, Aquaman, Abe Sapien, Aspen Matthews... maybe even Gill-Man (aka the Creature from the Black Lagoon), Neptunia (an ally of Darkwing Duck), or Awkwardman.

Or, pick just about any DC villain that you're in the mood to discuss, and put Amphibian against him. For example, Despero's featured in the current crossover miniseries on The Flash, and featuring these two against each other might make for an interesting story.

@D.T.---The same would go for I-man. Except that Sam wouldn't have to worry about getting killed while in that host body! Whereas, without the extra-terrestrial union suit, Ralph (and thus Sam) would be vulnerable to everything.

@Anonymous & Tobor: if it's strangeness you want, let's give Ross a real artistic challenge. Sam Beckett in Star Sapphire's body!

Special guest-star Ryan Reynolds...as both Deadpool and GL Hal Jordan.

@Cary: Lol!

Where is this from?

det_Tobor said...

@Carycomic, Sam has been switched with several women....including a pregnant mom to be. Al wasn't sure about much then.

@Anon, that's much of the situation. Sam/Ralph has the suit on, doesn't know where it's from and has no idea how it works or what it can do. Just Bill's two way to get him moving. (if it was hard for Ralph at the beginning, imagine Sam's "fish out of water feelings".

Carycomic said...

@Det. Tobor: But, he's never landed in a superhuman female, before. And the only way he'd feel more like a fish-out-of-water than that is if he landed in Aquaman!

Dear Ross: a co-worker recently told me that Mary Worth and Lee Falk's Phantom once had a crossover in their respective syndicated comic strips. Do you have enough image captures in your files to allow Spidey and/or Daredevil to meet that comic strip jurist, Judge Parker?

The premise could be something far-fetched-but-amusing like...the IRS suing Mary Worth over unpaid back taxes on all the apples she used to sell!

Bob Greenwade said...

That's almost as clever as my long-ago request to discover that Frank and Richard Castle are brothers....

@Bob Greenwade: I'd settle for Prince Valiant getting to meet his private eye descendant...Eddie Valiant!

Bob Greenwade said...

@Anon: Or Dick Grayson meeting his descendant, Amanda (or her son, Spock).
