Spider-Man Vs. The Fly (The Movie!)

"Be afraid... be very afraid!"  We were all saying that to each other the year Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis starred in David Kronenberg's updated version of The Fly.  Goldblum was great as the brilliant but obsessed scientist and the effects were suitably creepy.  I re-watched it recently and it still holds up.

Thank you to comics historian and Patron of this Blog, Marc Tyler Nobleman, for suggesting this cinematic pairing!

I, too, wish to thank Marc Tyler for being such a _noble man_ in suggesting this team-up. ;-)

It renews my hope that I'll someday see a photo-capture crossover between STAR WARS and L.I.S. on this website.

@Anonymous: Immensely...and shamelessly.

Since the original The Fly (with Vincent Price) was in black-and-white, I don't think we'll ever see that version pop up here against, say, Flash Gordon or George Reeves' Superman. (But I'm open to being pleasantly surprised.)

On a related note, with all the Dick Tracy/Batman crossovers we've seen, I don't think there's ever been a photo cover of them. Beatty and Keaton against, say, Influence and the Mad Hatter would make for an interesting tale.

For all I know, Messrs. Greenwade and Tobor may have already requested this crossover (as they do seem to hold the record for most frequent and brilliantly unconventional requests). But, if not, here goes.

How about 007 (Sean Connery, of course) vs. the Jim Corrigan Spectre?

Tentative title: "A Failure to Communicate."

With that title, throw in Paul Newman!

With his distant cousin, Thomas Newman, doing the musical score!!

P.S.@ Isaac: I don't know if the two of them are really related. But, Thomas really has done a lot of the music for Daniel Craig's 007 flicks.

@Cary: Personally, no, I have never suggested that combo.

PS: Here's a thought that I think could work quite well story-wise, though the art might be a challenge:

Booster Gold: 1602

Just quaint enough to work. I second the motion! :-)

@ Carycomic, if Greenwade and Tobor (seem to hold the record for brilliantly unconventional requests), I have to say, I thought everyone was doing them. But might I suggest 007 and Miss Piggy? It could be like a ham on rye.

Bob Greenwade said...

@Tobor: Why? Because Bond is noted for his rye sense of humor?

Chuck Norris as Kraven the Hunter? He has the presence but not think he has the physicality needed.

He's got that awesome mustache, that's enough!

Also this is something like 30 years ago, when Chuck was much more spry than he is today (though he's still pretty fit these days).

@Bob," Tobor: Why? Because Bond is noted for his rye sense of humor?" That's Miss Piggy to a T. And that's no bologna.

@Tobor and Greenwade: GOOD ONES! :-)
